Trey Yesavage set for series finale after 11-0

Trey Yesavage gets the start in the Blue Jays’ series finale against the Mariners after Toronto’s 11-0 loss to Seattle on Saturday. The 22-year-old hopes to build on a strong prior outing and help Toronto recover in the final game of the three-game set.
For Toronto, Saturday’s 11-0 loss to Seattle didn’t just sting—it flattened the day. The Blue Jays managed just one hit against the Mariners, and Shane Bieber struggled as well, allowing seven earned runs and three walks through four innings.
The offense had two familiar faces in Ernie Clement and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. but they went a combined 0-of-6 against Seattle’s pitching duo of Logan Gilbert and Cole Wilcox. With that kind of production missing. Toronto’s turnaround had to start quickly heading into the final game of the three-game set.
Still, the series isn’t finished. The Blue Jays can win it thanks to their 2-0 victory against the Mariners on Friday.
On Sunday, Toronto will send sophomore Trey Yesavage to the mound in the series finale. The 22-year-old will be looking to repeat what he did in his last appearance a week ago against the New York Mets, when he gave up one earned run on three hits while striking out three over 6.2 innings.
Emerson Hancock is scheduled to start opposite Yesavage. The righty enters with a 3.47 ERA and a 5-4 record through 16 appearances this season, setting up a matchup Toronto will hope can swing the tone back toward the team that won Friday’s game.
The Blue Jays head into the finale with a 42-47 record, sitting 3rd in the AL East, with first pitch set for 5 p.m. ET / 2 p.m. PT against Seattle on Sportsnet or Sportsnet+.
