Burger King brings back Crown Nuggets after 2011 absence

Burger King says its crown-shaped Crown Nuggets will return nationwide on June 2 for the first time since 2011, priced in the King Jr. Meal and also sold as an 8-piece pack.
The crown-shaped snack that disappeared from Burger King menus more than a decade ago is making a comeback—after the company says years of customers asked for it.
Burger King announced on May 26 that its Crown Nuggets are returning “after years of guests asking the brand to reintroduce the beloved crown-shaped, dippable snack.” The nuggets, last sold in 2011, will be available at restaurants nationwide beginning June 2.
Joel Yashinsky, chief marketing officer for Burger King U.S. & Canada. said in a statement that the brand has been “committed to creating awesome experiences for the whole family” and that listening to guests drove the decision. “We’ve been committed to creating awesome experiences for the whole family and listening to our Guests. ” Yashinsky said. adding that “bringing back our Crown Nuggets allows us to do both of those things.”.
The return comes with a clear pitch: the nuggets are designed to be dipped, and Burger King is leaning into a familiar item with a recognizable shape.
Pricing and bundles
Burger King’s Crown Nuggets will be available for $3.99 in the King Jr. Meal, which also includes a side and a drink. Customers can also order the nuggets in an 8-piece pack.
Burger King also plans to tie the launch to a broader kids’ promotion. The chain partnered with Crayola for a King Jr. Meal that includes a co-branded 4-pack of Crayola crayons along with a colorable crown and takeout bag. Burger King said the Crayola-themed meal will be available at locations nationwide beginning June 9, according to a news release.
Anna Roca, head of global partnerships at Crayola, said in the news release that Crayola has long focused on creating fun for the whole family, and that the partnership with Burger King is “a natural fit.”
Whopper changes set the stage
Burger King’s return of Crown Nuggets lands alongside other recent menu adjustments that the company has framed as guest-driven.
Earlier this year. the fast-food chain upgraded its flagship Whopper after its president. Tom Curtis. invited customers to call or text him with feedback about their experiences. Burger King said some of those comments led to changes to the Whopper. the first adjustments nearly 10 years. including a “more premium. better tasting bun.” The company also said the Whopper is “served in a box to ensure it makes it to Guests exactly the way it left the kitchen.”.
The sandwich continues to be served with lettuce, pickles, onions and tomatoes, and Burger King said it is also dressed with what it called “better tasting mayo.” The stated goal is “An even higher-quality experience from bun to toppings to packaging, for the perfect bite, every time.”
The thread connecting the moves is straightforward: bring back a long-missed item while pushing upgrades to what customers order most.
For diners, the question now is simple: will the nostalgia-driven return of Crown Nuggets—priced as part of a $3.99 King Jr. Meal or as an 8-piece order—be enough to win back the attention that viral taste tests have been drawing across fast food.
