Bueckers powers – Paige Bueckers scored 22 points with seven assists as the Dallas Wings never trailed in an 89-76 win over the Toronto Tempo on Sunday.

TORONTO — Paige Bueckers didn’t just score. She set the tempo—literally.

The Dallas Wings never trailed in an 89-76 victory over the Toronto Tempo on Sunday, with Bueckers finishing with 22 points on 9-for-16 shooting, including a 3-pointer, and adding seven assists. The win moved Dallas to 13-8 overall and improved the Wings to 7-5 on the road.

Bueckers also has been running hot, stringing together a run of four straight games with 25-plus points. Rookie Azzi Fudd scored 17 for Dallas, hitting 3-pointers while going 5-for-11 from deep. Jessica Shepard posted 14 points and 15 rebounds for her 12th double-double of the season. Arike Ogunbowale and Awak Kuier each contributed 10 points and six rebounds.

Toronto, playing from behind most of the way, was led by Marina Mabrey with 19 points. Nyara Sabally scored 14, and Isabelle Harrison added 13. Reserve Kia Nurse hit three 3-pointers and scored 12.

Back in Las Vegas, the Indiana Fever handed the Aces a rare loss: Kelsey Mitchell scored 27 points, Aliyah Boston had 18 points and 10 rebounds, and Indiana beat Las Vegas for the first time in Las Vegas with All-Stars Kelsey Mitchell and Boston’s team not enough to erase the absence of others.

Las Vegas was without A’ja Wilson. the four-time league MVP. who has missed three straight games with an ankle injury. Indiana was also missing Caitlin Clark for a third game as she recovers from a back injury. Both Wilson and Clark were selected to start in the All-Star Game on July 25 in Chicago. and both were expected to return soon.

Before the game, Aces coach Becky Hammon said that had it been a playoff game, Wilson most likely would have played. Clark, meanwhile, has returned to practice this week.

Mitchell went 7 of 18 from the field and converted 10 of 12 free throws for Indiana (12-8), and Boston recorded her sixth double-double this season. Lexie Hull scored 10.

  1. Didn’t Dallas not trail at all? That sounds fake to me, like how do you never trail in basketball unless Toronto just quit. Also 7 assists is nice but idk.

  2. Paige Bueckers “set the tempo”?? I thought that was a joke line, not real. And Azzi Fudd 5-for-11 from deep, cool, but where was the defense tho. Same time Indiana beating the Aces without A’ja, so was it really that Paige part or just injuries?

  3. I keep seeing A’ja Wilson and Caitlin Clark names and it’s confusing. Like Clark returned to practice but still not playing? Then they’re “expected to return soon” like any time now… Meanwhile Wings never trailed, so I guess Toronto’s offense was just off that day. 89 points though, that’s wild.
