Buc-ee’s opens biggest Western outpost in Goodyear
Buc-ee’s opens – Buc-ee’s opened a major new Western location in Goodyear, Arizona on June 22, extending the Texas travel-center chain farther into the Southwest. The facility is planned to bring more than 200 jobs, expand the brand’s footprint to 56 locations across 13 states
On June 22, Buc-ee’s flipped the switch on a new kind of roadside destination in Arizona: a massive, beaver-branded travel center built for the kind of rush that doesn’t wait for daylight.
The Texas-based convenience chain’s first Arizona location opened in Goodyear, a suburb of Phoenix—its new westernmost outpost yet. The move marks the debut of the chain in the Southwest, continuing Buc-ee’s expansion far beyond its Texas home base.
Goodyear officials said they expect the opening to draw as many as 40. 000 vehicles on opening day and in the following week. The city’s forecast matches the scale of what Buc-ee’s is bringing to town: a 74. 000-square-foot site with 120 fueling stations. operating 24 hours a day. 365 days a year. The company also expects the location to bring more than 200 jobs to Goodyear.
Buc-ee’s has been moving steadily west while locking in momentum in new regions. The company opened its first Arizona location this year after expanding earlier on the map: it opened its first Ohio location in Huber Heights this year. In 2024, it opened its first westernmost location in Johnstown, Colorado.
That pattern of growth is now also visible in the company’s national footprint. Buc-ee’s, founded in 1982, is one of the most recognizable exports from the Lone Star State. The chain’s popularity has long been built around the draw of clean restrooms and distinctive culinary offerings. but the expansion is turning that cult-like following into something more like a nationwide travel routine. With the Goodyear opening, Buc-ee’s has 56 locations across 13 states.
This latest expansion lands as Buc-ee’s looks ahead to more openings beyond the West. By the end of 2027, the company anticipates adding inaugural locations in Louisiana, Kansas and Wisconsin.
Buc-ee’s is also set to grow in several states this year, with opening dates confirmed by its media coordinator, Crissy Gonzales. The new locations include San Marcos, Texas on Aug. 12; Benton, Arkansas on Aug. 17; and Murfreesboro, Tennessee on Nov. 16.
The company’s contact page lists additional sites as opening without specific grand opening dates. In 2027, they include Ruston, Louisiana; Kansas City, Kansas; Gallaway, Tennessee; St. Lucie, Florida; Boerne, Texas; and Monroe County, Georgia. In 2028, the page lists Mebane, North Carolina and Lafayette, Louisiana. It also lists 2029 and beyond openings that stretch further across the country: Ocala. Florida in 2029; West Memphis. Arkansas in 2029; Oak Grove. Kentucky in 2029; Hardeeville. South Carolina in 2031.
The scale of the Goodyear rollout fits the chain’s broader push: more locations. more nonstop access. and more big-footprint sites designed for motorists who don’t just stop—they stock up. With an anticipated 40,000-vehicle rush in its opening window, Buc-ee’s isn’t merely extending a brand. It’s setting a high bar for what a “quick stop” looks like in the Southwest now.
