Buc-ee’s hits 56 locations as Arizona opens

Buc-ee’s expansion – Buc-ee’s opened its first Arizona location this week, adding a new Goodyear store with 120 gas pumps. With recent openings in Ohio as well, the chain now counts 56 locations across 13 states, as it maps an expansion that includes 12 new stores by 2028 and more

A Buc-ee’s shopper driving into Goodyear will find a lot more than a quick fill-up. The newest store—opened this week in Arizona—comes with 120 gas pumps spread across a 74,000-square-foot property near Interstate 10 and Bullard Avenue.

The opening matters beyond one city. Buc-ee’s has now reached 56 locations across 13 states after bringing its first Arizona footprint online this week. Ohio also added to the count with a new store in Huber Heights that opened just weeks earlier.

Stan Beard, Buc-ee’s director of real estate development, framed the timing as part of the chain’s road-trip identity. In a statement. he said. “We could not have picked a better location for our first store in the Grand Canyon State. Perfectly placed for our road-trippers headed out to California or coming in for the destination-rich Phoenix area. Goodyear will be the place to stop.”.

Buc-ee’s isn’t just adding stores—it has already laid out how fast the footprint is set to grow. Earlier this year, the company confirmed it would open in at least seven new states over the next two years: Arizona, Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, North Carolina, Ohio and Wisconsin.

A spokesperson also confirmed that three more locations are set to open this year in Texas, Arkansas and Tennessee. In total, Buc-ee’s is targeting 12 new locations by 2028.

The projected openings, as listed, begin with San Marcos, Texas on Aug. 12. Benton, Arkansas follows on Aug. 17, and Murfreesboro, Tennessee opens on Nov. 16. Beyond those, a number of sites are scheduled for 2027, including Ruston, Louisiana (2027); Kansas City, Kansas (2027); Gallaway, Tennessee (2027); St. Lucie, Florida (2027); Boerne, Texas (2027); Monroe County, Georgia (2027); and Oak Creek, Wisconsin (2027). The list continues into 2028 with Mebane, North Carolina (2028) and Lafayette, Louisiana (2028).

What’s next after that 2028 push is slated to begin in 2029, with expected openings in Ocala, Florida; West Memphis, Arkansas; Oak Grove, Kentucky; and Hardeeville, South Carolina.

The chain’s rapid scale-up is tied to what Buc-ee’s has long marketed: large-scale gas stations and convenience stores. Founded in 1982. it has built a reputation as the world’s largest convenience store. boasting over 100 gas pumps and a 75. 000-square-foot footprint—an expansion trajectory that keeps turning into more space for travelers on the road.

  1. I saw this headline and thought it said Buc-ee’s hit 56 people or something. But nah it’s locations. Either way the gas is gonna be cheaper right? or is it just bigger bathrooms and overpriced snacks

  2. So Arizona “opens” and it’s near I-10 by Bullard?? I don’t even know where Bullard is in Goodyear. Sounds like they’re basically trying to control road trips to California again. Also 12 new stores by 2028?? That’s like, every week. Someone should check if this is just marketing math.

  3. I swear these places are everywhere now. I was in Ohio last month and there was a Buc-ee’s sign and then this says Huber Heights opened weeks earlier… so did I just imagine it? Either way, I like the vibe but the lines are always crazy. If they put 100+ pumps then why is it still crowded, like do half the pumps not work or what
