Brussels adds trains, trams for BTS and Bad Bunny

Public transport services are being increased for a series of mega concerts in the capital in July, Stib has announced. The network operator is laying on extra metro trains, trams and buses for each of the highly-anticipated events at the King Baudouin Stadium in Heysel, starting with the BTS concerts on 1 and 2 July. With some 58,000 K-pop fans expected each evening, metro line 6 and tram line 7 will run more frequently from 16.00 until the end of service. Among other adjustments, metro
lines 1, 5 and 6 will operate with an increased service following the concerts. The network will also have additional metro trains, trams and buses on standby in case they are needed. Similar beefed up metro services are due to be laid on for the 10,000 fans seeing Congolese singer-songwriter Koffi Olomidé perform on 12 July and the 50,000 spectators expected at Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny’s concert on 22 July. The King Baudouin metro station will be closed after the BTS and Bad Bunny
concerts to avoid overcrowding, noted Stib. Its staff will be present at stations to help facilitate spectators’ journeys. Ticket holders for the BTS and Bad Bunny concerts will receive an Event Pass, which allows them unlimited travel on the Stib network on the day of the concert. And to get the party started, there will be a playlist of K-Pop group BTS and Puerto Rican singer Bad Bunny in stations on concert days. Photo: ©Stib
