Multiple sources told Page Six that Ian Wace helped Harry and Meghan move back.
Their friend, who is reportedly worth $1.2 billion, allegedly isn’t footing the bill for the entire situation.
Wace is the founding partner, chief executive officer and chief risk officer of Marshall Wace LLP.
Harry and Wace’s emotional connection
While it seems unlikely that the 63-year-old would know the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Wace and Harry share a similar heartache.
The businessman lost his former wife, Joanna Wace, and their two small children in a car crash in England in 1994.
In 1997, the 41-year-old lost his mother, Princess Diana, in an automobile accident in Paris.
Harry and Meghan didn’t make many friends while living in California
Luckily Harry and Meghan have one close friend on their side, as their neighbors in California claimed the two weren’t exactly friendly.
“I left a bottle of wine at their gate to welcome them and it was returned to me, unopened, the following day,” a Montecito local named Susan told Daily Mail.
“I’m not sure they ever wanted to hang out with anyone who wasn’t a billionaire or famous or both,” she noted.
Harry and Meghan’s U.K. return is ‘about money’
The shock of the Spare author and the Suits actress’ return to the U.K. comes after many failed attempts at professional ventures in America.
“This is about money. Harry knows the family fortune is in Britain,” one insider told Rob Shuter‘s Naughty But Nice Substack page. “He also knows his father [King Charles III] is the person who can make life much easier for him.”
A second source noted, “The American dream did not turn out the way they planned. The deals came, the headlines came, but the enormous financial independence they talked about never really materialized.”
