Radio host Bobby Bones says he regrets mailing back his “Dancing with the Stars” Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy after comments from former host Tom Bergeron. Bones says he mailed the trophy back to ABC in 2018, later received private messages and apologies, and

For Bobby Bones, the Mirrorball moment that once felt like a victory now feels like a mistake.

The 46-year-old radio personality says he regrets sending back the Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy he won for “Dancing with the Stars” Season 27 in 2018. In an interview published Tuesday. May 26. Bones told a publication that he’d like the trophy back. saying. “It’d be nice if I could get my ‘Dancing with the Stars’ trophy back.” He added that he does not know where it is and asked anyone who has it to mail it back to him.

Bones’ decision to mail the trophy back came after former “DWTS” host Tom Bergeron made remarks about Bones’ 2018 win in a November Parade interview. Bones and partner Sharna Burgess won Season 27, beating runner-up pair Milo Manheim and pro Witney Carson.

In a Nov. 12 TikTok video responding to Bergeron’s comments, Bones said the remark was hurtful. “I try not to get my feelings hurt, especially about stuff like this, but this was hurtful,” he said. Bones also said he was more upset by who made the comment than the comment itself. adding. “I didn’t even wanna be on the show.”.

In the same video. Bones said he believed he had a good attitude and worked hard before sending the trophy back. “Like, what did I do?. I had a great attitude. I worked hard, and here we are, like six years later, I’m still catching strays out of nowhere. So, I sent the trophy back. They don’t want me to be a part of the show, obviously. So I don’t wanna be somewhere that doesn’t want me to be there,” he said.

The story didn’t end there. Bones said Bergeron later apologized to him after privately messaging him, and that they’re now on great terms. He said he got hurt by Bergeron’s comment. and once that happened. “we’ve talked. and we’re great again.” Bones told the outlet that Bergeron apologized. and that he also apologized for making Bergeron apologize. He described their conversation as emotional, saying, “We cried. It was really great.”.

Bones said he noticed Bergeron’s direct message while he was a guest on Kaitlyn Bristowe’s “Off the Vine” podcast. He said Bergeron later appeared on Bones’ podcast as well. and that early in the conversation he brought up the tension. “He came on. and the first thing that I said was. ‘Hey. man. why do you hate me now?’” Bones said. describing how opening with the issue helped clear the air.

Long after Bones’ trophy was mailed back, Bergeron is still connected to the show’s present. Bergeron hosted the first 14 seasons of “Dancing with the Stars” before exiting in 2020. He left after the show’s producers cast Sean Spicer, a former aide to President Donald Trump, in Season 28. Bergeron returned as a guest judge on a Nov. 11 episode, also marked as a 20th anniversary celebration.

The sequence of events—from Bones’ 2018 win to his trophy being returned after Bergeron’s remarks. then to the private messages and reconciliations—shows how fast a single comment can ripple through a relationship that once felt settled. Bones now wants that physical symbol back, along with the closure he says he eventually reached with Bergeron.

  1. Honestly I don’t even think Tom Bergeron’s comment should matter that much. But yeah if you won it fair and square you should have it. If ABC kept it that’s kinda lame.

  2. I’m confused because I thought the trophy was like forever owned by the winner? Like did he mail it back as punishment? Also “doesn’t know where it is” makes me think it’s still at ABC somewhere behind a filing cabinet.

  3. DWTS people always acting weird. He says he regretted mailing it back but also said he didn’t even wanna be on the show… so which is it? Like he could’ve just kept it instead of sending it back in 2018. Now six years later he’s asking strangers to mail it to him? I mean good luck with that.
