Autopsy Finds No Drugs in Darrell Sheets’ Death

Darrell Sheets’ autopsy report, released publicly, says toxicology came back negative after officials tested for multiple drugs. The Medical Examiner’s Office ultimately listed suicide as the cause of death, with a separate investigation continuing into claims
Darrell Sheets’ final months were already under scrutiny, but the new details in his autopsy report shift the focus from substances to something else—what was happening in his life before he died.
The Mohave County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed in its final summary that the cause of death was suicide. The report describes the body as “that of a well-developed, well-nourished adult male.”
Toxicology came back negative, according to the report. Officials took samples of Sheets’ blood and tested for benzos, cocaine, fentanyl and other drugs. “There were ultimately no drugs found in his system.”
While the investigation moved forward on his death, other physical details were documented as well. In examining his body, officials discovered Sheets had tattoos, including a female, the number 58, a joker and a checkered flag. The report states the ink didn’t play a role in his death.
The timeline of the case traces back to April 22, 2026. At approximately 0200 hours. officers with the Lake Havasu City Police Department were dispatched to a residence in the 1500 block of Chandler Drive after a reported deceased individual. Upon arrival. officers located a male subject who suffered from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. The male was pronounced deceased on scene. and the Lake Havasu City Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit was notified to assume the investigation.
Police in Arizona also confirmed they were investigating claims that Sheets was bullied online before his death. In the weeks leading up to his suicide, Sheets confronted alleged cyberbullies on social media.
Sheets. 67. was a fan-favorite cast member of Storage Wars known to viewers as “The Gambler.” His death was confirmed in a report dated April 22. 2026. with the show’s wider community responding with grief. A&E previously shared a statement: “We are saddened by the passing of a beloved member of our Storage Wars family. Darrell ‘The Gambler’ Sheets.” The statement added. “Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time.”.
Original Productions also released a statement: “We are deeply saddened by the passing of longtime Storage Wars cast member Darrell Sheets. His bold instincts and willingness to take risks helped define the show and build its legacy. Our hearts go out to his family and friends.”
Outside the show, Sheets had built a life connected to the auction world. After exiting Storage Wars, he started his own business called Havasu Show Me Your Junk. Fans also knew his signature line: “This is the WOW factor!” He appeared on more than 160 episodes of Storage Wars between 2010 and 2023.
The autopsy’s toxicology findings land at a moment when the investigation is already grappling with another question: what drove the confrontation with online harassment and the weeks that followed. With no drugs found in his system and suicide confirmed as the cause of death. the attention continues to turn to the circumstances around his final stretch of life—and the harm his loved ones say he endured before he died.
