Texas softball vs Mississippi State: WCWS elimination, 6 p.m. CT

Texas softball – Texas and Mississippi State meet Friday, May 29 at 6 p.m. CT in a 2026 Women’s College World Series elimination game at Devon Park in Oklahoma City. Texas enters after a 6-3 loss to Tennessee, while Mississippi State was run-ruled 8-0 in five innings by Texas

By the time Friday night arrives, there’s no room for “getting warmed up.” Texas and Mississippi State are set for a Women’s College World Series elimination game at Devon Park in Oklahoma City, with the winner moving on and the loser sent home.

Texas Longhorns (47-12) and the Mississippi State Bulldogs (43-20) will play on Friday, May 29, starting at 6 p.m. CT.

Texas comes into the elimination matchup after the reigning NCAA softball champion fell 6-3 to Tennessee in Thursday’s WCWS opener. Mississippi State, meanwhile, was handled in its first game—run-ruled 8-0 in five innings by Texas Tech.

The shift from Thursday to Friday is immediate: each team has already seen how fast the margin can disappear in OKC. One game is all it takes at this stage, and both sides now carry those results into a must-win night.

  1. Texas got run-ruled like 8-0 in the other game?? Or was that State? My brain is mixing it up lol. Either way 6pm CT is when I’ll check.

  2. Devon Park in OKC sounds nice but I hate elimination games because it feels random. Like if they had “warm up” it’d be different? Idk. Also Texas lost to Tennessee 6-3, so I’m guessing Tennessee is still in it somehow??

  3. ESPN at 6pm… cool cool. But why is Texas like the reigning champ and still getting upset? Miss State might come out flat after that 8-0 thing. If they don’t score early it’s over, that’s usually how these elimination brackets go.
