In Budapest, police are now studying camera footage after a brawl involving supporters of Arsenal and Paris St-Germain broke out in the early hours of Saturday morning. The incident happened on May 30, 2026, at around 00:20 on Kiraly Street in Budapest’s 7th district.
Footage spread online, showing roughly 30 supporters from each club clashing in the street and lighting flares.
Budapest police said they are “initiating proceedings against unknown perpetrators for the crime of gang violence,” and that camera recordings are being analysed as part of the case. The BRFK 7th District Police Department is leading the probe.
Security is ramping up across the Hungarian capital as the Champions League final approaches. Nearly 4,000 police officers are set to be deployed for the match, with tens of thousands of fans expected to travel to Budapest without tickets.
On Tuesday. Hungary’s deputy national police chief Zoltan Janos Kuczik described the operation as historic. saying: “This will be the largest single-day police deployment in Hungary’s history.” He also said security preparations began more than a year ago. describing the final as a “high-risk event.”.
The scrutiny is not limited to the early-morning incident. Two Portuguese and a British man were arrested on Friday following a fight at the Champions League fan festival site, and they were charged with disorderly conduct.
Police also said a British man who climbed onto the roof of a parked car and damaged the vehicle was arrested.
In the same city where thousands of fans are expected to pour in, the message from police has been clear: the tournament may be about football, but enforcement is already focused on the moments before it—on the streets, in the crowd, and on what cameras captured when tensions spilled over.
