At the first of two dates in downtown Los Angeles as part of her Eternal Sunshine Tour, Grande said she had “never in my life experienced a crowd like this,” and described the audience as a “loving, safe presence.”
The speech landed days after reporting began circulating that Grande had split from her longtime co-star, Ethan Slater. Grande performed her June 13 show just three days after the split was confirmed in coverage on June 8. following earlier reports from People and TMZ. Those outlets said the “Wicked” stars had quietly broken up months earlier, citing unnamed sources close to the actors.
Grande’s tone turned reflective as she spoke to the Southern California crowd. “It’s been seven years since I’ve been on stage in front of you all,” she said, adding that “You’ve stood by my side and supported me.”
The breakup surfaced in public conversation nearly three years after their relationship became known. That timing followed breakups with their respective spouses in July 2023, moments that sparked backlash directed at Grande and Slater.
The Eternal Sunshine Tour is set to continue after the Los Angeles run, moving to Kia Forum in Inglewood, California, for three dates starting June 17.
Grande also carried the focus forward beyond the immediate news cycle. Her next album, “Petal,” is slated for release on July 31.
