Android 17 QPR1 Beta 3 lands for Pixel testers

Google has released Android 17 QPR1 Beta 3 for Pixel testers, following Beta 2 by just two weeks. The build brings a springy new notification animation, tweaks to screen recorder behavior, and a long list of fixes covering issues from audio crackling to broken
Pixel testers got a new Android 17 build today, and it arrives fast. Android 17 QPR1 Beta 3 is now available for devices enrolled in Google’s testing program, landing just two weeks after Beta 2.
The timing matters because the Beta 3 drop is meant to be small—Google says it includes “a minor SDK release.” That update, according to the explanation shared on the Android Developers Blog, is designed to support features that “just couldn’t wait for QPR2.”
To get the update, Pixel owners already on the testing track should see a notification when Beta 3 is ready to install. For anyone starting from scratch, Google points testers to the Android Beta Program registration process.
The release comes in two revisions: CP31.260508.005.A1 for Pixel 6 and 7 models, and CP31.260508.005 for more recent Pixel hardware.
On top of the SDK work, the new build also changes what testers see and do day to day. Mishaal Rahman, writing on X, highlights a springy new notification animation, modified screen recorder behavior, and a visible UI blur effect described as “definitely-not-Liquid-Glass.”
Google also lists a set of fixes in this release—some of them the kind of bugs that can quietly ruin a normal day with your phone. Here’s what’s addressed:
A recurring system error in ContextHubClientManager that caused excessive logcat noise when attempting to send messages to unregistered clients (Issue #289721806).
Clicking on the date in at a glance prompts opening the terminal (Issue #506101970).
Wi‑Fi disconnects unexpectedly due to erroneous low-quality detection even when the signal strength is strong (Issue #494670350).
Users experienced frequent crackling or distorted audio during media playback from any source. The issues include Issue #482749744, Issue #471865281, Issue #485701794, Issue #489062503, Issue #494050912, Issue #494901502, Issue #493915745, and Issue #458363923.
UI elements are partially cut off or positioned off-screen when apps expand to full-screen mode (Issue #476830614, Issue #489452085).
Home screen widgets would disappear or become unavailable in the widget picker after a device reboot. That includes Issue #488125748, Issue #505117543, Issue #505671079, Issue #497140330, Issue #506685943, Issue #510967059.
The mobile data icon incorrectly remains active in the Quick Settings panel after Airplane Mode is enabled (Issue #501368569, Issue #505757076).
The push is another step in Google’s Android 17 QPR rollout rhythm. The program first started with Android 17 QPR1 Beta 1 in late April, followed by Beta 2 a couple weeks later—now giving testers Beta 3 as the next checkpoint.
For anyone who relies on their Pixel for daily audio. stable connectivity. and the basics of navigation. Beta 3’s mix of UI changes and stability fixes is the real headline. If you’re enrolled, it should show up soon. If you’re not. Beta 3 is a reminder that the fastest way to see what’s next is joining the test track.
