Chwalinska—unseeded—claimed the first set in a gripping sequence. winning 7-6 (7-4) over Shnaider after a match that came down to the tiebreak. Chwalinska then kept the pressure on to close things out 6-4 in the second set. reaching her first Grand Slam final.

With the day complete, the pieces now lock into place for Saturday’s title match: No. 8 Mirra Andreeva versus Maja Chwalinska, at 9 a.m. ET.
