The blight is moving again.
Critical Role has announced Age of Umbra: Sallowlands, an all-new six-part Daggerheart mini-series set in a dark, foreboding fantasy world. It will debut July 9 on Beacon. Twitch. and YouTube. sending viewers back to the ruined Halcyon Domain as five misfits chase a new region’s promises and threats in equal measure. This part of the story—The Sallowlands—spreads across cracked badlands where secrets could lead to salvation. or pull characters into the jaws of ancient horror.
The timing matters. The first Age of Umbra season released last May. and it drew viewers in with Critical Role’s co-founders and main cast: Ashley Johnson. Laura Bailey. Liam O’Brien. Marisha Ray. Sam Riegel. Taliesin Jaffe. and Travis Willingham. This time, only Bailey is returning, joined by a larger group of new faces.
The world they step into is not getting kinder. The Halcyon Domain is described as a bleak realm rotting in the wake of its Pantheon’s abandonment. where ancient wonders crumble slowly into ruin. The Sallowlands region expands the Season 1 world by reframing an old landmark: a once-vibrant lake of the Old World now lies sunken and barren. In its place is a canyon desert of swirling dust storms and desperate communities holding fast to the light—an atmosphere built for survival. not comfort.
Game Master Matthew Mercer leads this standalone adventure. The cast includes Laura Bailey and familiar voices—Jennifer English. Abubakar Salim. Vico Ortiz. and Zachery Renauldo—coming together for brutal adversaries and high-stakes storytelling. The series is positioned as emotional and grounded in struggle. exploring themes of desperation. survival. and love in the face of overwhelming odds. as outcasts and survivors are pushed off the edges of the map in search of answers.
The show’s schedule is now part of the pitch: episodes air weekly on Thursdays at 7 PM PST through August 13. Beacon members will get access to Age of Umbra Cooldowns. a behind-the-scenes series designed to keep the cameras rolling while the cast reacts immediately after the episode airs. YouTube VODs will be released the Monday after each episode airs. and podcast versions will come out in two parts as well.
There’s a clean. clear rhythm to the rollout—weekly episodes. immediate post-show reaction for Beacon audiences. and delayed but consistent replays through YouTube and podcasts. But the emotional weight of the premise lands before the credits roll: a blighted realm. a new region of cracked badlands. and a question that drives the group forward—salvation. or ancient hunger—set against a world where even hope has to fight for space.

So it’s coming back June 9 or July 9? They can’t even get the dates straight lol.
I used to watch Critical Role for Laura Bailey mostly and this sounds dark dark dark. I’m into it but also I feel like it’s just gonna be sadness and monsters.
Wait “Halcyon Domain” like from Halo? Or is that just a coincidence? Either way I don’t get why it needs Twitch and YouTube if it’s already Beacon.
They said episodes Thursdays at 7 PM PST through August 13… so is that like only 6 weeks? And the blight is moving again?? I swear I saw this exact plot in season 1, just renamed places. Still gonna watch though because Matthew Mercer is basically magic.
