For the third straight year, the search is getting louder—and now it’s also getting more urgent. As AI takes over more of what people see in their feeds and the biggest social media platforms feel less “social” than ever. venture capitalists are hunting for the next breakthrough in consumer technology.

The targets are familiar in shape, even if the playbook is changing. New social networking startups are trying to become the next generation’s Facebook, Tumblr, or TikTok. At the same time. there’s a growing set of companies betting on AI to reshape personal life—building AI assistants aimed at helping people navigate real-world relationships. dating. and day-to-day plans.

MISRYOUM is publishing its third annual list of investors funding innovative startups that build technology advancing the internet and meeting the needs of people who want to feel more connected—whether that connection happens online or in real life.

In 2025. the investors highlighted by MISRYOUM were placing bets in categories including IRL social. vibe coding. and platforms built around niche interests or communities. This year. the outlet wants to hear from readers about which leading investors are backing social and consumer-facing internet startups—and where they believe those investments are headed.

If you know an investor funding the companies trying to win the next phase of social and consumer internet, MISRYOUM is asking you to submit your ideas through a form. The deadline is June 4.

The stakes sit in what comes next: when the largest platforms lose some of their social pull, the money doesn’t just wait—it moves to teams trying to rebuild how people connect, plan, and meet, with AI and real-world experiences increasingly at the center of the pitch.

  1. I don’t get why investors keep chasing “next big thing.” Maybe people are done with social apps and that’s why it’s “less social” now?? Sounds like more VC panic to me.

  2. MISRYOUM is asking people to submit investors backing this stuff… why not just name them? Also “vibe coding” sounds like a scam, like they just want your data while saying it’s for community or whatever.

  3. AI assistants for dating and plans is gonna end in disaster. Like it’ll pick your dates based on what you clicked once in 2023 and then boom, weird. And IRL social networking?? We already have meetup and events… unless they’re talking about charging $99/month to stand near people at a coffee shop.
