After announcing her remission from cancer, the Princess of Wales made a solo visit to Italy—and it landed as a statement. Former press secretary to Queen Elizabeth II, Ailsa Anderson, says the timing and visibility of the trip were impossible to miss.
“She knows the eyes of the world are on her,” Anderson told People. “It is a clear signal she is back in business.”
Anderson also tied the message to a familiar royal truth. “She is our future Queen. As Queen Elizabeth used to say, you have to be seen to be believed,” she said. “She is glamorous, she is beautiful. She is warm and approachable.”
The tour is already being read as a new chapter for the monarchy. Anderson pointed to a wider shift in momentum, noting that following King Charles III’s successful visit to the States, Prince William and Kate are “upping their game.”
Royal biographer Russell Myers believes the public has felt that absence while Kate underwent treatment. “There’s no denying that everyone concerned has been missing the princess’s star quality,” Myers told the publication. “She is a huge draw wherever she goes.”
The image of the Princess of Wales meeting people face-to-face seems to be part of why the return is resonating. Darren Stanton. a body language expert. compared her in spirit to Princess Diana during her greetings with locals on the trip. “I think Kate is so much like Princess Diana and seems so humble with other people. ” Stanton said while speaking on behalf of Betfair Casino. “There is a correlation between the two, whether or not she is with Prince William.”.
Stanton described how Kate moves effortlessly between worlds—an ability that, for him, signals real confidence rather than formality. “Kate can go from meeting world leaders to going to the BAFTAs. She is good at communicating from the highest possible level of society to people who have nothing,” he said. “Kate has no issues with anyone. People saw that in Diana, and they do see that in her. She is selfless, and that is an emotion you cannot fake,” he added.
On day two of the Italy trip, Kate was met by cheering fans, with social media posts capturing how widely the visit is being followed. The public reaction, Anderson says, is the point.
“Kate is undoubtedly a central force in the monarchy’s popularity and ability to achieve its goals and move forward. There is no better time for her to return,” Myers noted.
