For a team already bracing for change under new head coach John Harbaugh, the Giants now have a different kind of controversy to shake off: one starter taking aim at another.
Giants linebacker Abdul Carter. entering his second NFL season. took to X on Saturday morning to vent after teammate Jaxson Dart welcomed Donald Trump at an event in New York. Dart was the shock choice to introduce the president for a stump speech at Rockland Community College. north of the city. on Friday.
Dart. 23 and a former first-round pick. stepped in front of the excited crowd and said: “I’m grateful. I’m honored. I’m pleasured to introduce the 45th and 47th President of the United States of America. President Donald J. Trump.” Trump then walked onstage to the tune of Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the USA” and hugged Dart. whom he later described as a “future Hall of Famer.”.
But Carter wasn’t pleased to see his quarterback make such a public political appearance. Posting on X, the linebacker wrote: “Thought this s*** was AI, what we doing man.”
That unrest will not be ideal for Harbaugh as he prepares for his first season in charge of the Giants, with both Dart and Carter expected to be key players if the coach is to steer the team toward a turnaround.
During Trump’s speech, he added a personal aside about Dart’s physical appearance. “I’m looking at Jaxson… I’m looking at the legs there. He’s this beautiful guy. He’s got legs like tree trunks. This is not a good thing for women.”
The backlash didn’t stay inside the locker room. Giants fans across New York and New Jersey—often already wary after Trump’s three White House runs that left him winless in both states—vented online after Dart’s introduction.
One critic wrote: “Jaxson Dart just let the world know how much of an idiot he is!’” Another said. “Seeing a Giants player introduce Trump in New York feels like a bad joke. New Yorkers reject this kind of politics.” A separate fan called it “Jaxson didn’t make any friends in our blue city… with this MAGA a**-licking.”.
Not all complaints landed on policy. Several fans argued over the principle of staying out of politics. One wrote: “What. A. F***ing. Moron. God damn him. All my Dart rookie cards are going to go to zero in a week. Stay out of politics you jacka**.”
Others framed their anger around Trump’s popularity. One user pointed to “a 58-percent disapproval rating, according to the latest Daily Mail/J.L. Partners polling,” and added: “Yikes. Dart introduces racist trump.”
A few fans also latched onto a detail from the stage: eagle-eyed viewers noticed the 6ft2 Dart stood slightly taller than Trump, who has claimed to be 6ft 3in.
The reaction, though, was far from unanimous. Trump’s supporters on X reacted with excitement at seeing Dart introduce him regardless of NFL allegiances. A presidential appointee. Nick Adams. quickly labeled the Giants as “early favorites to win the NFC East with pro-Trump stud Jaxson Dart under center!” Another supporter wrote: “Athletes finally using their platform for something real instead of scripted virtue signals. Blue states are cracking, people want strength, not more decline. If this fires you up, show up and vote like your future depends on it. It does.”.
Dart has not been very outspoken politically since being drafted by the Giants in 2025. The one earlier exception in the material came after the murder of slain conservative activist Charlie Kirk last September. Dart shared some kind words about Kirk. reposting a Team Trump message titled “Pray for Charlie Kirk” and commenting: “May God watch over him and his family!”.
Now, with the Giants trying to settle into Harbaugh’s first season, the fallout from Friday’s introduction has already spilled into public conflict—between teammates—while fans on both sides of the Hudson continue to argue over what Dart should have stood for on that stage.
MISRYOUM Sports News New York Giants Abdul Carter Jaxson Dart Donald Trump Rockland Community College John Harbaugh NFL
football players shouldn’t be political lol
Wait is this the same Jaxson Dart that’s in the Giants? Why would he introduce Trump like that at a college event… I’m confused. Abdul Carter saying “AI” makes no sense though.
“legs like tree trunks” 😂 bro Trump be saying wild stuff. Also Carter calling it AI… like did he think Trump was fake or what? Half the time these guys are just trying to stay relevant and then it turns into a team drama. John Harbaugh got his hands full.
This is why I don’t like politics mixed with sports. I saw a clip somewhere that said Dart was “choosing sides” but then Carter was like AI?? Maybe he meant the whole thing was staged like AI video or deepfake? Either way it’s messy, and now the Giants are gonna have locker room issues before training camp. Also Rockland Community College??? where even is that compared to the stadium like people act like it’s normal.
