Jazz hands aren’t just for rehearsal tonight. The 79th Tony Awards are set for Sunday. June 7. at Radio City Music Hall in New York City—and the show’s biggest night comes with a practical question many viewers will ask before the first curtain: how do you watch without getting locked into another monthly subscription?.
The broadcast schedule is built to answer that. The pre-show, The Tony Awards: Act One, begins at 6:35 p.m. ET on Pluto TV, a free streaming service, with Tituss Burgess and Laura Benanti serving as hosts. Then the main ceremony starts at 8 p.m. ET on CBS or Paramount+—with one important catch for Paramount+ viewers.
Pink is hosting this year’s Tony Awards, a choice that may surprise people who associate her more with pop radio than Broadway stages. She has never performed on Broadway, but her songs are used in the hit shows Moulin Rouge and & Juliet. A big theater fan, she’s set to emcee the event.
Competition is tight at the top. Two new musicals—The Lost Boys and Schmigadoon!—tied for the most nominations this year with 12 each. Ragtime follows with 11. Death of a Salesman, Cats: The Jellicle Ball, and The Rocky Horror Show all received nine nominations.
The acting categories also pull in familiar film and TV names: Daniel Radcliffe, John Lithgow, Carrie Coon, and Rose Byrne are nominated.
Onstage, the Tony Awards will follow tradition by delivering a number or medley from all the shows nominated for Best Musical and Best Revival of a Musical.
There’s extra celebration in the performances, too. The Chicago revival is marking 30 years, and The Book of Mormon is marking 15 years. Queen Latifah and Pink are among the performers. joining Jesse Tyler Ferguson. Alex Newell. Julianne Hough. Whitney Leavitt. and Dylan Mulvaney to perform jazzy hits from Chicago. The entire original cast of The Book of Mormon—including Nikki M. James, Josh Gad, Andrew Rannells, and Rory O’Malley—will reunite and spread the good word again.
For viewers watching the pre-show, there’s another reason to stay tuned. During the official pre-show, The Tony Awards: Act One, special Tony Awards for lifetime achievement will be presented to André Bishop, Jules Fisher, and James Lapine.
Bishop is best known for his tenure as the artistic director of Lincoln Center Theater. where he championed productions including Tom Stoppard’s The Coast of Utopia and Craig Lucas and Adam Guettel’s The Light in the Piazza. Fisher. a renowned lighting designer across multiple mediums. illuminated the original Broadway productions of Hair. Jesus Christ Superstar. Pippin. and Ragtime; he has been nominated for 25 Tonys and taken home nine. Lapine is a celebrated playwright and director with three Tonys already. a frequent collaborator of both Stephen Sondheim and William Finn. He helped bring works such as Sunday in the Park With George. Into the Woods. Falsettos. and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee into the world.
That brings the story back to the viewing options.

All of it—the host, the nominations, the lifetime achievement awards, and the broadcast choices—funnels into the same moment tonight. The stage is at Radio City Music Hall. The clock starts with The Tony Awards: Act One at 6:35 p.m. ET, and the main ceremony at 8 p.m. ET, one way or another.

Pluto TV really free or they gonna charge me later? lol
Wait Pink is hosting?? I thought this was like older theatre people only. Also Paramount+ is always a trap with extra catches I swear.
So are they doing it at Radio City tonight or is it next weekend? The article says June 7 but then talks like it’s pre show and ceremony start at different times and my brain’s already fried.
Two musicals tied with 12 noms and people still acting like Cats is winning again. Also I’m pretty sure Death of a Salesman is the one with the cat thing? idk I just saw the list and clicked.
