Jonathon Cooper apologizes after arrest with girlfriend

Denver Broncos linebacker Jonathon Cooper has posted a public apology after being jailed on domestic violence and criminal mischief charges, along with his girlfriend Jade Fiegen, following a dispute involving allegations of infidelity and phone damage.
For a player whose Sundays have come to define his worth to the Denver Broncos’ defense, the week has started with something far heavier than football.
Jonathon Cooper, 28, posted a public apology after both he and his girlfriend, Jade Fiegen, were arrested on domestic violence and criminal mischief charges following a fight.
Cooper was held on suspicion of two counts of domestic violence and one count of criminal mischief. Douglas County jail records show he was arrested by Parker Police at 11:16pm Thursday and booked into jail at 2:38am Friday. Fiegen. 28. was also booked after the pair had a dispute over alleged infidelity. with charges including domestic violence and criminal mischief.
Cooper made his first court appearance Friday in the 23rd Judicial District Court and is due back in that court Monday for a disposition hearing. His attorney. Harvey Steinberg. revealed that Cooper received a personal recognizance bond. allowing him to be released from custody without paying bail up front.
After the arrest and release. Cooper took to social media to apologize for his actions and to share a passage of the Bible with his 60. 000 followers. He wrote: “I realize posting a Bible quote right after something very serious happens does not just mean everything is okay. I apologize to my family, to my friends and my community… and so many others.”.
He added: “Sincerely, I apologize. This situation is not who I am.”
The allegations described in an arrest affidavit seen by The Daily Mail center on an argument inside Cooper’s apartment over claims that he was cheating on Fiegen. The couple, who have been dating for “approximately four years,” clashed over his phone. Fiegen said she took Cooper’s phone. threw it across the room. and then tried to retrieve it so she could look through it.
Cooper told police he grabbed Fiegen by her upper arms and eventually got his phone back. When Fiegen tried to grab it again, Cooper said he braced his neck against hers to keep her from reaching it.
After the physical struggle ended, Cooper told officers he went over to the couch and picked up Fiegen’s phone. He told her that if she didn’t leave the apartment, he would break the phone. Cooper then said she didn’t leave and admitted he bit her phone. causing “disabling damage.” Police reported that her phone had a “cracked screen.”.
Fiegen described the incident differently. Her version in the affidavit says Cooper “grabbed her by the neck” and held her up against the wall for approximately a minute. She also said she picked her up and threw her on the ground approximately three times, and punched the wall “next to her face.”
The affidavit includes an account from an officer describing the injuries observed on Fiegen’s body. The officer wrote: “I observed a small mark on (the woman)’s neck. where she claimed Jonathan grabbed her. ” and also saw “scratches on (her) arm and a small cut on her hand.” The officer stated that the markings and scratches “did not appear consistent with a larger male lifting (her) up into the air by her throat as well as repeatedly being thrown to the ground.” The affidavit further notes that “the small mark on (the woman)’s neck did not appear to be consistent with the claim that (she) had been held up in the air by her throat by another individual.”.
The Broncos are monitoring the situation as it moves through court. “We are aware of the matter and are gathering more information,” the team said in a statement.
Cooper is a central figure in the Broncos’ defense. He was selected by the Broncos in the seventh round of the 2021 NFL Draft out of Ohio State. and he has played every single game in the last three seasons. recording 27 sacks. Last season. Cooper helped the Broncos reach the playoffs. beat the Buffalo Bills. and then lost to the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship game.
In November 2024, the Broncos signed Cooper to a four-year contract extension worth up to $60 million, including $33 million in guarantees.

Damn, talk about a bad week.
Posting a Bible verse right after getting arrested feels so weird to me. Like is that supposed to make it better? Domestic violence charges are not a headline you can pray away.
I don’t get how he’s out on personal recognizance bond already. If it’s “domestic violence” wouldn’t they keep him longer? Also the girlfriend stuff about infidelity… sounds messy and probably both sides spinning it.
Every time I hear Broncos and “suspicion” it turns into a whole soap opera. Like he’s apologizing but he’s still got domestic violence and mischief charges, so what exactly is he apologizing for? “This situation is not who I am” okay but then why are there phone damages and all that, seems like it’s who he is in that moment at least. Also Daily Mail wrote it so idk how much is accurate but either way yeah… not a good look.
