69-Year-Old Woman Dies in Swampscott Apartment Fire

A fire tore through a Swampscott condominium apartment on Thursday morning, and by the time firefighters got inside, a 69-year-old woman was already dead.

The woman was found inside her apartment, the office of District Attorney Paul Tucker said in a press release. The fire broke out in an apartment inside a condominium complex along Loring Avenue in Swampscott.

Firefighters located the woman inside her apartment and she was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead, Tucker’s office said. Her identity has not been released pending family notification.

The fire is now under investigation by State Police, the Swampscott Police and Fire Department, and the office of the State Fire Marshal, the DA said.
