Met Éireann warns: 10 counties hit 25C next Sunday

Following last week’s sweltering heatwave which saw the mercury rise to 31C, Met Eireann have said we can expect cooler and wetter conditions over the coming days. According to the national forcaster, conditions will be m ixed for the week ahead with rain or showers at times although there will be “some decent dry periods also,” with highest temperatures ranging from high teens to low twenties. While many people will welcome the return of rain after last week’s scorching heat, we don’t have to wait
too long until the dry and sunny conditions return, with a band of high pressure set to usher in another spell of glorious summer weather at the end of the week. Met Eireann has pinpointed the areas set to enjoy the best of the sunny weather next weekend, with the national forecaster revealing that 10 counties will bake in sizzlying 25C heat next Sunday, July 5. Issuing their latest forecast, a Met Eireann spokesperson said: ” Through Friday and next weekend, it looks like high
pressure will become established to the south of Ireland. “The best of the drier, sunnier weather will be in the south and east of the country. It will be cloudier to the west and north with some rain, drizzle or showers at times. “It will become warmer over the weekend with temperatures rising to the mid-twenties in Munster and south Leinster on Sunday. next.” That means residents in Clare , Cork , Kerry , Limerick , Tipperary , Waterford , Carlow , Kilkenny , Wexford
, and Wicklow can start to get the barbecues as ready as next weekend promises to be a scorcher. Unfortunately, before the sun and heat returns, we will have to contend with some typical Irish summer weather this week, with spells of rain on the cards while temperatures will struggle to reach 20C most days. Sunday – June 28 : Today will be bright and breezy with sunny spells. Scattered showers in the west will extend eastwards to all areas by early afternoon. They will
become confined mainly to the north and west this evening. Highest temperatures of 15C degrees in the west to 20C in the east with moderate to fresh, gusty southwesterly winds. Tonight will be mainly dry with clear spells and well scattered showers in the west and northwest. Lowest temperatures of 9C to 12C with moderate southwest breezes. Monday – June 29 : Monday will start off mainly dry with bright or sunny spells. Cloud will increase from the west through the morning. Rain will develop
in the west during the afternoon and will spread eastwards through the evening. Highest temperatures of 16C to 21C with light to moderate south to southwest winds. Monday night will be cloudy with rain extending eastwards to all areas. Lowest temperatures of 10C to 13C, with light to moderate southerly winds. Tuesday – June 30 : Tuesday will start off cloudy with rain in most areas. Rain will clear eastwards by noon with sunshine and showers following for the rest of the day. Highest temperatures
of 16C to 21C with light to moderate southerly winds veering westerly as rain clears and increasing fresh northwesterly later. Tuesday night will be dry with clear spells and a few lingering showers. Lowest temperatures of 10C to 13C with Wednesday – July 1 : Wednesday will start off dry. Rain and drizzle will develop in the west during the morning and spread eastwards through the afternoon. Highest temperatures of 16C to 20C with light westerly winds backing southerly and freshening. On Wednesday night, rain
