Zendaya races between Euphoria, Odyssey, Dune filming

Zendaya juggling – Zendaya says juggling HBO’s Euphoria and major film productions has meant night shoots, nonstop memorization, and even one embarrassing moment on Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey.
Zendaya is still on the move, even as audiences catch up with her on screen.
After the premiere of A24’s The Drama last month in theaters, she is now reprising her role as Rue Bennett in HBO’s Euphoria, airing Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on HBO and HBO Max.
The pace doesn’t slow behind the scenes. Recently, the Golden Globe winner recalled trying to keep up with production schedules for Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Three and the third season of HBO’s Euphoria.
“I remember being on set for Euphoria; it was a night shoot at a ranch,” Zendaya told Elle. “I was so tired, but I was also learning my Chakobsa lines for Dune. And then I started writing out my lines to memorize for that quick turnaround trip I was going to make to Iceland [for The Odyssey].”
The juggling act sounds relentless in detail, right down to the logistics of memorization and travel. She added that even in a role where she has fewer lines, the stakes felt unusually personal because Nolan was in the director’s chair.
“It’s not like I have a lot of lines in The Odyssey, but I was working with Christopher Nolan! The most embarrassing thing in life would be messing up my lines, which did happen once.”
A few months after she warned fans she’d be “disappearing for a little bit,” Zendaya told them in March, “I just hope you guys don’t get sick of me this year because I’ll tell you what … I’m going to have to go into hiding for just a little bit.”
The schedule now spelled out is a heavy one. Zendaya’s next appearance is as Athena in The Odyssey, premiering July 17. She then returns as MJ in Spider-Man: Brand New Day on July 31. After that, she steps back into Chani for Dune: Part Three, premiering Dec. 18.
For viewers, it’s a familiar comfort watching Zendaya in multiple worlds at once. For the actress herself. the memories she shared make clear what that comfort costs: exhaustion on a night shoot at a ranch. lines written out and memorized for a trip to Iceland. and a moment—once—when even she couldn’t prevent the embarrassment of forgetting.
In the middle of it all, Euphoria remains the weekly anchor, with Zendaya continuing as Rue Bennett as the new season unfolds Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on HBO and HBO Max.
