X-Ray Suite+ campaign tops $1 million milestone

Article content The Walkerton and District Hospital Foundation announced June 12 that the X-Ray Suite+ Replacement Campaign has officially surpassed the $1 million raised mark, bringing the community one step closer to transforming diagnostic imaging services at the hospital. This significant milestone has been made possible through the extraordinary generosity of local residents, businesses, service clubs and supporters. A key feature of the campaign has been the successful “Buy-A-Bone” initiative, which allows donors to purchase a bone for a donation of $5,000. Each bone represents

a tangible contribution toward new diagnostic imaging equipment that will directly benefit patients and families throughout the community. To date, 170 bones have been purchased or pledged, leaving just 36 bones available for community members who wish to become part of this lasting legacy. “We are incredibly grateful for the overwhelming support we have received from our community,” said Randy Weber, campaign co-chair. “Surpassing the $1 million mark is a remarkable achievement and demonstrates the commitment people have to ensuring access to high-quality healthcare close

to home.” The campaign originally focused on replacing the hospital’s aging X-ray suite. However, through careful planning and updated vendor pricing, the hospital has been able to expand the scope of the project while reducing the overall cost. In addition to acquiring a new X-ray suite, the hospital will now also purchase a new ultrasound unit, further strengthening the diagnostic imaging services available to patients. The combined cost of the new X-ray suite and ultrasound unit is $1.281 million. With only 36 bones remaining, campaign

organizers are encouraging individuals, families, businesses and community groups to participate before the Buy-a-Bone initiative concludes. “Every contribution brings us closer to our goal and helps ensure our hospital has the tools needed to provide exceptional care for years to come,” said Ryan Fullerton, campaign co-chair. 1. If it’s $5,000 for a bone, 170 bones is like… math is hard, but that’s a lot. Glad they’re upgrading though, my cousin always complains about waiting for imaging.

  2. I saw $1.281 million and thought that was already the $1 million mark, not extra. Also aren’t ultrasounds kinda the same as x-rays?? Like I don’t get why they need both, but good for them I guess.

  3. 36 bones left, so if someone doesn’t buy one that means patients will be stuck with the old machine forever or what? Sounds like a gimmick but at least it’s going to equipment. Kinda wild they “updated vendor pricing” to save money, meanwhile everything else costs more every year. I hope they actually get the ultrasound too, because walkerton hospital is always short on stuff.
