WWDC 2026 nears: Siri overhaul and AI features

WWDC 2026 starts Monday at 10 a.m. PT, with Apple expected to roll out a major Siri revamp, deeper Apple Intelligence updates across devices, and new tools in Camera, Photos, Image Playground, and Wallet—while a standalone Siri app and an AI agent app-store pu
On Monday, as the clock hits 10 a.m. PT, Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference will open and the spotlight won’t just be on new features—it will be on whether Siri can finally feel like the kind of assistant people actually want to use.
WWDC 2026 kicks off Monday at 10 a.m. PT / 1 p.m. ET. The event will be streamed live via the Apple Developer app, Apple’s website, and the Apple Developer YouTube channel.
At the center of the hype is a major AI makeover for Siri. The plan. as it’s been described ahead of WWDC 2026. is to transform Siri into a more conversational assistant that can understand context. handle multi-step tasks. and interact more naturally across apps and services. The revamped Siri is also expected to leverage Google’s Gemini technology to boost its capabilities.
That’s the headline. The smaller, more dramatic possibility comes with recent leaks from Bloomberg: a standalone Siri app aimed at competing with advanced AI chatbots like ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini.
There are also whispers that Apple could bring a messaging-app-style feature into the mix—letting users set timers so conversations automatically delete after 30 days. after a year. or stay indefinitely. It’s a specific kind of control that matters because it moves the conversation from “assistant that talks” to “assistant that respects how you manage your information.”.
The second thread running through the pre-WWDC chatter is how Apple Intelligence may plug into everyday tasks. The Information has said Apple plans to introduce an AI agent integration with the app store. The details remain scarce. but the core idea is clear: agents that can be delegated to do things users would normally handle manually—booking reservations. managing everyday tasks. editing documents. or controlling smart home devices.
Even the photography tools aren’t expected to sit still.
A new “Visual Intelligence” section is anticipated inside the Camera app. replacing the previous Visual Intelligence feature that lived in the Camera Control button. This upgrade is described as a dedicated Siri mode next to options like Photo, Video, Portrait, and Panorama. The Visual Intelligence feature, the leaked description says, leverages Google Image Search to identify objects captured by the user.
In the Photos app. enhancements powered by Apple Intelligence are expected to include intelligent scene recommendations for optimizing photos. automatic object removal for cleaner images. and an AI photo editing feature that lets users request edits using natural language. Apple also points to new productivity functionalities in visionOS tied to these capabilities.
Image Playground is also in line for a refresh. The app is expected to see higher-quality image generation, more artistic styles, better character consistency, and richer editing controls. The interface for creating new images may be simplified, with fewer controls and a “describe a change” option for editing.
Other possibilities floating around include a suggested Genmoji feature that proposes custom emojis based on users’ media and text interactions. There’s also the idea that users could generate AI wallpapers reflecting different themes and moods.
Wallet updates, meanwhile, are shaping up to be less about flashy AI and more about convenience. Rumors point to a new bill-splitting feature that would simplify sharing expenses among friends or family. Users would be able to photograph a receipt and generate payment requests to different parties.
Alongside that, the Wallet app could add a “Create a Pass” option to generate digital passes from physical items such as movie tickets, concert passes, or gym membership cards.
Across Apple’s broader lineup—MacOS, iPadOS, visionOS, watchOS, and tvOS—the expectation is that Apple will enhance its AI-powered Siri experience across devices, while also incorporating additional AI features and stability updates.
Taken together. these announcements point toward one central bet: Siri isn’t just getting better at speech—it’s being pushed toward conversation. planning. and practical help across the apps people open every day. with new entry points like a potential standalone Siri app and deeper agent-style automation inside the app ecosystem.
In just a few days, that bet goes from rumor to reveal. And for users who have waited through years of “almost there” moments. the question won’t be whether Apple can say Siri is smarter. It’ll be whether Siri can finally keep up with what people ask of it—then do the next steps without turning everything into work.

So Siri finally talks good now or what?
Using Google’s Gemini?? That sounds like a weird mix but whatever. If Siri can actually do multi-step stuff without messing up, I might finally use it again. Also deleting messages after 30 days… I’m not sure Apple even understands people.
“Standalone Siri app” like it’s gonna replace the iPhone? I saw something like this on TikTok and people said it already exists. And if it competes with ChatGPT then why does my Siri still forget everything after 2 seconds? I swear leaks always make it sound amazing then it’s just settings.
I don’t trust this. If Apple is using Gemini then that’s basically Google in my pocket, right? And “conversational assistant” sounds like more ads disguised as help. The timer thing for deleting conversations is cool but also sketchy like they’re deciding how long you can talk. I’ll wait till people test it because WWDC hype is always… not what you get.
