A World Cup celebration in Koreatown turned into chaos just before 7pm on Thursday, when a shooting near Irolo Street and James M. Wood Boulevard sent a 50-year-old man to the hospital with multiple bullet wounds.
The Los Angeles Police Department arrested a 19-year-old suspect after the incident, which took place at around 6:40pm. A department spokesperson confirmed the arrest, while neither the shooter nor the victim has been identified publicly, and the man’s medical status has not been revealed.
What happened next played out in fragments for those nearby. Video captured by the LA Times shows the wounded victim on the ground near Seoul International Park. where crowds gathered for public viewing of Mexico’s win over South Korea in Group A. In the footage. as onlookers tended to the victim. the camera then shifts to an armed officer aiming a rifle at an individual lying face down on the street.
In audio from the scene. the officer is heard saying. “Do not reach for anything. ” before asking for help locating the gun. “We don’t know,” a woman can be heard responding. The officer then asks. “Where’s the victim?” and bystanders tell him. “over there.” The video cuts back to the victim as a tourniquet is tied to his leg. then returns to the suspect being handcuffed.
The LA Times reported that three shots were fired.
Online footage also spread quickly. A Kick content creator, Cellfmade, shared purported video from the scene and later fled the area on a scooter. Cellfmade identified another streamer, known as StomperIRL, as the gunman. Titles for various Kick videos posted by Cellfmade included “stomperirl shots fired” and “Stomper fires.” The true identities of both streamers have not been established publicly.
Cellfmade’s video does not show the shooting itself, but shots can be heard before he escapes the scene through pedestrians. In the footage, Cellfmade says, “This fool Stomper is tripping, bro,” and then, “Oh nah, this fool is tweaking.” That clip has since gone viral.
Despite the violence nearby, the shooting did not disrupt the watch party at Seoul International Park, where fans of both Team Mexico and Team South Korea were seen watching the match.
Across the tournament, World Cup gatherings in the United States have largely been calm, but there have been arrests. The same tournament coverage referenced nine arrests in Arlington, Texas, and 10 arrests linked to watch parties in the Boston area.

Irolo and James M. Wood… isn’t that near a bunch of restaurants? Like how does this even happen while people are watching the game. Also they never said who the victim is which makes it feel like more gonna come out.
Sounds like the officer was telling people not to reach for stuff and then they were like “where’s the victim”… so the victim might’ve been playing? idk I’m just reading the headline and that part made no sense to me. But I’m glad he got a tourniquet at least.
This is why I can’t even watch games outside anymore. First it’s “watch party” then it turns into chaos. They arrested some 19-year-old but not naming anyone yet like normal LA police stuff… and the video keeps cutting around so people are gonna argue forever. Also the streamer scooter thing?? like why was that happening while people are bleeding.
