Rebecca Lowe didn’t wait for a studio statement or a formal press release. On Monday evening, the NBC Sports presenter posted a personal tribute to her colleague Wendy, writing that the NBC Sports family is “in deep shock today” after Wendy’s sudden death.
Lowe, who is on World Cup duty for NBC this summer, shared the message to her Instagram followers alongside a slideshow of pictures. In the caption, she began with a blunt, aching simplicity: “Our Wendy. The NBC Sports Family are in deep shock today, mourning the loss of our wonderful Wendy.”
She went on to describe what Wendy meant to the network beyond day-to-day work. Lowe wrote that Wendy “positively affected young people’s lives,” giving them “a chance” and “opening a door,” insisting that “for that she will be remembered through the lives of so, so many.”
Lowe said her thoughts were with Wendy’s family. adding that the word “dedicated” “sums her up.” She wrote that Wendy was “always there for her NBC family. for her work and for others. ” and closed the post by stressing how enduring the loss would feel. “We are thankful to have been touched by Wendy and will never forget her. She was a marvel and we hold her family, friends and all the young people at NBC in our hearts.”.
The carousel of images included pictures that appeared to show Wendy attending a friend’s wedding, offering a glimpse of a life that was still moving even as the news turned tragic.
In the comments. fellow NBC Sports presenter Robbie Mustoe added his own grief. saying it was “really hard to say just how special Wendy was in our NBC family.” He wrote that she “cared so much about making our lives easier… supporting us in so many ways for so long. ” calling it “really heartbreaking” and saying. “I should have told her more about how much I appreciated her. This is devastating.”.
Tim Howard, a former USMNT goalkeeper, also paid tribute, writing: “Truly one of the best to do it. She will be missed dearly.”
The online tributes landed while the wider NBC Sports World Cup season approaches—Lowe herself is set for World Cup duty this summer—but the message was unmistakably personal: Wendy’s presence. and the work she did with the people around her. is the part that others keep returning to as the shock settles in.

So sad. I don’t even know her but this stuff always hits hard. Prayers.
Wait Wendy died?? I thought this was like some sports promo thing like the “Wendy’s” fast food lady 😂 but damn. World Cup season just started too.
Robbie Mustoe saying it’s hard to explain how special she was… yeah. But I saw the wedding pics in the carousel and it’s weirdly unsettling like how can it be normal pics and then suddenly this. I’m just really confused and sad for her family.
NBC sports family “in deep shock” like they always do after someone passes. Idk I feel like they should say cause of death or something. Wendy “opening a door” sounds nice but what does that even mean… RIP anyway.
