Ali Krieger Loves Jen Beattie Amid Ashlyn Harris Fallout

Ali Krieger, 41, shared an Instagram Story praising Jen Beattie’s Scottish heritage, even as her ongoing divorce fallout with ex-wife Ashlyn Harris—who has spoken candidly about ending their nearly four-year marriage—continues to reverberate.

Ali Krieger didn’t post a careful caption. On Monday, June 15, she went straight for the heart.

The former Team USA soccer star shared a video of rowdy Scottish soccer fans at a recent Boston Red Sox game to her Instagram Story. Alongside the clip, Krieger wrote, “Just a brilliant group of people. ❤️ 🏴 Feeling very lucky and grateful to have a Scottish lassie as my partner.”

That “partner” is Jen Beattie. Beattie, a former professional soccer player, and Krieger began dating in 2024, shortly after Krieger’s ex-wife Ashlyn Harris, 40, filed for divorce in September 2023 after nearly four years of marriage.

The timing matters—and Harris has been clear about how much her decision cost.

Earlier this month, Harris exclusively opened up to Us Weekly about the end of her relationship with Krieger. Nearly three years after filing for divorce from her ex-wife, Harris said Krieger is still “a big part of my life” because “She’s the mother of my children.”

“I respect her […]

“I don’t resent or regret anything about the life that I built with her; it just wasn’t for me,” Harris said.

She described how trying to make the relationship work didn’t necessarily mean staying in it.

“You try and you try and you try and you keep trying to make it work and you don’t want to fail. You don’t want to give up. But also, life is really short and really long at the same time. I get one shot at this. There’s no second act. If I’m feeling this way in my 30s and I’m so unhappy that I don’t want to get out of bed. am I really serving her and my children and my friends and myself?”.

Krieger and Harris share two children: daughter Sloane, 5, and son Ocean, 3. Harris said she knew her choice would hurt.

“I had to make a really hard decision,” Harris said of her divorce from Krieger. “I know I hurt her in that process.”

Since then, Harris has said she’s moved forward with her life and happiness. She started dating actress Sophia Bush in October 2023 and now says she is “the happiest I’ve ever been.”

“I love myself. I don’t remember the last time I woke up being like, ‘I love the person I’m looking at in the mirror.’ I [used to] have to remind myself every day, ‘You’re enough. It’s going to be OK. Just gotta put one foot in front of the other.’”

She added. “Life is too short to feel the burden and weight of a life you don’t want to be in and you don’t want to live. It f***ing sucks. and you have to make the hard decisions sometimes. but on the other side of that bravery is a life maybe you’ve always imagined. I’m privileged enough now to live that.”.

Back with Krieger, affection is the dominant tone in her posts. She celebrated Beattie’s “favorite person” birthday last month with an Instagram message that read: “Life feels lighter. happier. and a whole lot better with you in it. ” adding. “The love. care. and laughs you bring into our lives means everything to us. and watching the kids adore you the way they do makes me smile every day. We love you!. 💝💐🥳🎈”.

Even as Harris talks openly about grief, respect, and the difficulty of leaving, Krieger’s latest social media moment puts her new relationship front and center—an unmistakable emotional shift that lands right in the middle of the public timeline of their family’s change.

  1. The headline says “loves Jen Beattie” and now I’m supposed to care about Scottish fans at a Red Sox game lol. Divorce drama always feels so messy though.

  2. Not to be that person but if your ex is saying stuff like “no second act” that’s pretty intense. I don’t know the timeline like for real, but it sounds like everyone’s talking at once and it’s wild.

  3. Wait… is Ashlyn Harris the one who ended it because of “Scottish heritage”?? Like the Scottish lassie thing sounds sweet but I swear people in sports just use Instagram as evidence for stuff. Also Red Sox game in Boston like that matters somehow??
