When “Warrior Cats” first clawed its way onto the page in 2003, it didn’t arrive quietly. It built a following strong enough to sustain new installments for years—and now that momentum is headed to screen.

An animated TV adaptation of the long-running children’s fantasy book series is coming to Disney+ and Disney Channel, following a deal between Coolabi Group and Disney Kids & Family. The show, created by animation studio Original Force, is scheduled to air in 2028.

Coolabi’s partnership announcement ties the move to Disney’s broader reach with families. while also pointing back to earlier groundwork in Asia. Coolabi had previously said a TV project was greenlit and has started production. with plans to air in 2028 on the Tencent Video platforms across China and Southeast Asia.

The series will adapt the first set of books, “Warrior Cats: The Prophecies Begin.” A.C. Bradley—known for “Ms. Marvel” and “What If?”—will serve as showrunner. Rodrigo Blaas, who is credited with work on “Finding Nemo” and “The Incredibles,” is on board to direct.

The franchise itself carries serious scale. Launched in 2003, “Warrior Cats” has spawned over 100 books across various sub-series. Conceptualized by Victoria Holmes. it was written by many authors who pen the novels under the pseudonym Erin Hunter for HarperCollins. Sales figures are just as sweeping: the series has sold more than 90 million books and has been translated into 38 languages.

Ayo Davis, president of Disney Kids & Family, framed the Disney deal as both a storytelling bet and a brand partnership. “We’re always seeking out fresh, imaginative storytelling that resonates with families around the world,” Davis said. “‘Warrior Cats’ has inspired a generation of fans. and we couldn’t be more excited to partner with Coolabi Group to bring this phenomenal series to life on Disney+ and Disney Channel.”.

From Coolabi’s side, the path to Disney is described as the product of earlier negotiations and ongoing work since 2024. Allison Watkins. EVP at Coolabi Group. said: “Following our development deal with Tencent Video in 2024. we have been working hard to find the perfect home for ‘Warrior Cats.’ We couldn’t be more thrilled that Disney has come on board the project. and we look forward to delivering a truly exciting new series to ‘Warrior Cats’ fans across the globe. 2026 has already seen the successful launch of ‘Warrior Cats’ toys at retail in the U.S. and we anticipate a whirlwind year ahead for the brand.”.

Will Harrison. CEO of Coolabi Group. emphasized what comes next for the audience—especially the expansion beyond the existing fan base. He said: “We are so grateful to Allison and former CEO Jeremy Banks for brokering such a key deal with Disney on behalf of Coolabi and Tencent Video. Disney is the perfect partner for such a hugely loved brand. and we look forward to expanding the fanbase further both in the U.S. and globally when the series hits the small screen.”.

The timing is what makes this announcement land. By 2028, “Warrior Cats” will have crossed the boundary from a best-selling reading habit into a mainstream animated television schedule—while the brand’s reach in toys, books, and international translations continues to widen in parallel.
