Gronkowski, Edelman Join Tartan Army’s Boston March

Rob Gronkowski and Julian Edelman landed back in Boston with one mission: join the Scotland fans on their feet, in their paint, and in their celebration.

Friday’s march through the city wasn’t just another media appearance. Edelman and Gronkowski—Patriots legends who previously won three Super Bowls in New England and then celebrated with three massive parades through the city—could be found walking alongside the Tartan Army. the group they praised even as they joked about how hard Boston has been pushed this month.

“We heard that they drank Boston under the table,” Edelman said. Gronkowski followed with a grin: “This is the second time in 12 years that the city of Boston has been drank dry.” He added. “Congratulations to the Scotland army. the Tartan Army. they are absolutely fabulous. They are sloppy, but a respected sloppy fanbase, they’re great people.”.

Both men work as NFL analysts on FOX, the same network broadcasting this year’s World Cup. That made it a natural fit to bring their familiar Boston energy back to the Commonwealth while covering the tournament.

The fan centerpiece was Fan Fest on the Boston Common, where supporters—mostly Scots—had an alternative to watching Scotland’s match without leaving the city. The event pulled an approximate crowd of 15,000 fans, turning the plaza into a gathering point built for noise, anticipation, and beer.

For some Boston bars, that anticipation came with a hangover surprise: the Scots’ demand for draft beer outpaced supply. Multiple places ran out of some or all of their draft beer selections as the World Cup festivities continued through the month.

Edelman didn’t just report the scene. He was seen walking with the Tartan Army, donning face paint and a kilt to match the marching Scots. Gronkowski joined in too, taking plenty of pictures with fans along the way.

And the atmosphere held a clear goal. The Scots are hoping for a win on Friday to clinch a spot in the knockout stages of the tournament. Kickoff versus Morocco is set for 6 p.m. Eastern Time—meaning Boston’s World Cup party is still racing toward its own defining moment.

  1. I don’t even get why NFL guys are doing World Cup stuff. Like FOX could just show the match and be done. Also if they ran out of draft beer that’s on the bars, not Scotland fans.

  2. Wait are they saying Gronkowski and Edelman joined the Tartan Army march for like… a charity or something? Or is it literally just drinking and face paint. Because “demand for draft beer” sounds like a supply issue but then they’re acting like it’s some epic victory??

  3. Man Boston can’t handle anything. First the Patriots parades, then these Scotland fans, next thing you know it’s gonna be “ran out of beer” and everyone acting surprised. I heard they drank Boston under the table like that’s a real thing. But also didn’t they say Scotland needs to win to get to knockout stages? That’s the part I care about, not the kilt pics.
