A video from December isn’t staying in the past for Brandon Aiyuk.

A warrant has reportedly been issued for the arrest of the San Francisco 49ers star in Northern California. Aiyuk is wanted on a misdemeanor charge of exhibition of speed. linked to footage posted by the receiver and showing him reaching speeds of more than 100mph. The Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office is said to have confirmed the warrant. with the matter tied to the Santa Clara Police Department’s investigation into the video.

In that clip, Aiyuk—28—was filmed driving a Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing along Santa Clara roadways. The video includes him hitting 104mph as he traveled past the 49ers’ Levi’s Stadium. After the post drew heavy criticism. Aiyuk apologized on social media at the time and promised fans that his “car content won’t come with speeding anymore.” Six months later. the AWOL wideout is now wanted by police.

Police scrutiny comes as his situation with the 49ers remains unsettled. At the end of April. Aiyuk could not be located by San Francisco as the team pursued a desire to trade him. ESPN’s Adam Schefter later said Aiyuk’s departure is taking longer than expected. describing what it looked like from the other side of the negotiation table: the 49ers. he said. had “hard time getting hold of him. ” and Aiyuk “hasn’t been in clear constant communication with the Niners.” Schefter added that other teams trying to reach him were also running into difficulty.

Aiyuk will not be returning to San Francisco after a $27million guarantee in his contract was voided due to his failure to participate in team meetings and other activities. He is in the middle of a four-year. $120m contract. with $76m guaranteed. but has not played for the 49ers since tearing his ACL. MCL and meniscus in an October 2024 game against the Kansas City Chiefs. That October 2024 match is widely expected to be his last appearance for San Francisco.

The legal cloud adds another layer to a trade picture already complicated by money. The NFL insider also explained that Aiyuk’s contract—one that includes a $24.935m option bonus—has deterred teams from pursuing a trade. even after the 49ers voided his remaining guarantees following his failure to take part in mandatory rehab sessions for his knee.

Even with the standoff dragging into offseason, San Francisco has continued pushing for an exit. General manager John Lynch has invited offers for the “unwanted wideout,” telling reporters: “We’re available. Give us a call,” and adding, “And like I said earlier, I think it’s the prudent thing to do.”.

Lynch described Aiyuk as both proven and still movable, saying: “He’s an extremely talented player. He’s been an extremely effective player in our league; situation didn’t work itself out here. That’s not to say that it can’t be rekindled somewhere else. And we’d be happy to do something with anyone if the opportunity presented itself.”.

The Daily Mail has reached out to Aiyuk’s agent, Ryan Williams, for comment.

Between a warrant tied to a video and a contract situation already pushed to breaking point. Aiyuk’s next steps outside the 49ers appear to be closing in fast. One part of the story points to a police process triggered by what he filmed months ago; another points to how quickly the team wanted to move him after he disappeared from view at the end of April.

For now, it’s the same central tension—communication, accountability, and whether either side can move on—playing out with a new urgency, one that ends with a warrant rather than just offseason noise.

  1. So they issued a warrant over one video? I mean… people speed, especially in CA. Also he apologized so they should let it go. Idk seems like they just wanna make headlines.

  2. Wait I thought the 49ers already traded him? Like I’m confused, because the article mentions negotiation trouble and also the warrant. If he’s AWOL then how is he posting car stuff still? Sounds like the team and police both can’t find him but somehow we all can.

  3. This is why I don’t trust athlete “content.” First it’s “just driving,” then it’s misdemeanor exhibition of speed, then suddenly a warrant. He drove past Levi’s Stadium at 104mph like that’s normal?? And the other part about him not being in communication with the team makes it sound like he’s avoiding everyone. I bet he’ll blame it on the car or the GPS or something.
