Stage 1 ran as a team time trial spanning the first 12.1 miles. with each rider’s individual time recorded as they crossed the finish line. But the winner was decided by the fastest combined team time. When Jonas Vingegaard’s Visma-Lease a Bike team rolled across. it did so in 21 minutes and 47 seconds to claim Stage 1 victory.

The field at the Grand Départ was packed: 184 riders representing 23 teams lined up in Barcelona, all aiming to seize an early lead and shape what comes next over the race’s 21 stages across multiple countries.

Slovenian defending champion Tadej Pogačar was among the starters, returning to pursue a third consecutive Tour de France victory.

After Stage 1, the leaderboard reads like a tight opening statement. Filippo Ganna of the Netcompany INEOS Cycling Team finished second with a time of 21 minutes and 55 seconds, +00:08 behind. Tadej Pogačar placed third at 21 minutes and 59 seconds, +00:12.
