USA chase Group D glory vs Australia Thursday

USA vs – With Group D on the line, the United States meet Australia in Seattle at 3 pm ET as Day 9 continues. Hosts Mexico and Canada already won on Thursday—Mexico clinching Knockout Stage qualification and Canada rallying through a wild, contentious match against Qat

The stakes feel sharper when the tournament’s host cities start humming with certainty.

On Thursday. Mexico and Canada both won to keep the World Cup 2026 moving at full speed—Mexico becoming the first team to officially clinch a spot in the Knockout Stages. while Canada produced a chaotic. high-drama result against Qatar. That match included six goals for the home team. a gruesome injury. two red cards. and a fight between the teams.

Now the spotlight shifts to the other host as the United States take on Australia in Group D, with a much bigger target than a Round of 32 seed up for grabs.

The USA’s match is scheduled for Seattle, Washington at 3 pm ET, with television coverage listed as FOX and Telemundo. The betting market is leaning hard toward the Americans: USA -160, Draw +330, Australia +425.

The question hovering over the Group D clash is simple: will the United States prove they’re for real against Australia?

The USMNT has a statement to make after dismantling Paraguay, and the matchup carries meaning beyond scheduling and bracket mathematics. The USA will be playing for the first-place spot in Group D—its reward tied directly to Round of 32 placement. but the intention described for this team goes further. There’s a push to show it has the level of a quarterfinal contender. even a semifinal one. in the 2026 World Cup.

That ambition may come with a complication. The guide flags the possibility that Christian Pulisic could be unavailable, but insists the squad is built to handle it. The argument is that the United States are “stacked. ” and that a modern tactical approach under Mauricio Pochettino gives the team a path to compete at a higher level whether or not its biggest star is there.

Australia, though, won’t be there to make it easy. The Socceroos are described as tough and disciplined, and the guide frames the expectation as a straight one: with Pochettino pulling the strings, there’s “no reason” this squad shouldn’t win again.

In Boston, Scotland’s fans are also preparing for a step-up in class. Scotland play Morocco at 6 pm ET in Boston, Massachusetts, with FOX and Telemundo listed for coverage. The odds are Scotland +475, Draw +265, Morocco -145.

The Scotland story has already been one of the most entertaining in the tournament. The guide describes “thousands of men in kilts and Scots of all stripes” rocking red or blue jerseys. overrunning cities from Boston to Providence. and “literally” drinking almost all the beer in Boston. On the pitch, Scotland’s team looked sharp against Haiti, and now the program tightens. Morocco arrives first. with Brazil scheduled next. and that run is set to determine whether Scotland remains a fun distraction or becomes a genuine story that travels deeper.

Later in the evening, Brazil faces Haiti in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at 8:30 pm ET on FOX and Telemundo. Brazil are listed as overwhelming favorites at -1000, with Draw +1000 and Haiti +2200.

Then in the late window, Türkiye plays Paraguay in San Francisco, California at 11 pm ET on FS1 and Telemundo. Türkiye’s odds are +110, Draw +240, and Paraguay +275.

All of it comes after a Thursday that began with momentum shifting quickly. Mexico’s Knockout Stage qualification became the first concrete milestone of the tournament’s next phase. and Canada’s win over Qatar was the kind of match that changes how a team’s supporters feel about surviving pressure—not just winning it.

If the morning after games like that feels different, this slate makes sense for why: the night now offers a host-vs-host contrast, a Scotland-versus-Morocco test in Boston, and a clear set of early questions heading into the next round of group play.

  1. So Mexico already clinched and Canada fought Qatar like it was UFC? Now USA vs Australia at 3 pm… I’m confused why they’re even talking about brackets, I just wanna see goals.

  2. If Pulisic is out then that’s basically a wrap right? Like USA can’t be for real without their star, everyone knows that. Also -160 means USA wins for sure right? Kinda feels rigged.

  3. Seattle at 3 pm ET on FOX and Telemundo… so which channel is actually showing it for regular people lol. And they said Australia has a “bigger target” which means what like they get more money if they lose? The Canada match sounded insane though, six goals?? plus reds?? I’m gonna watch just for the chaos.
