US launches strikes on multiple Iranian targets

The US Central Command (Centcom) says its forces have launched strikes against Iran, hitting multiple targets. In a statement on X, US Centcom says the strikes are in response to what it terms Iran’s unwarranted and continued aggression. Iranian state media has reported that the Iran Revolutionary Guard has targeted US military bases in Kuwait and Bahrain hitting two ships in the Strait of Hormuz. Speaking to Fox News, President Donald Trump said 49 Tomahawk missiles hit targets in Iran while fighter jets were operating
over Iranian air-space, saying they’d hit the country hard. The US President also said on social media that the US military had escorted 100 million barrels of oil through the Strait of Hormuz and that the United States controlled the key waterway – a statement disputed by Iran’s joint military command that announced the closure of the Strait, including for oil tankers and commercialships, saying any vessel attempting passage would be shot at. Both sides indicated that they would continue to retaliate while the US
was seeking to pressure Iran militarily into a peace agreement acceptable to the White House. Video | US Centcom forces launch strikes against Iran
