Ty Dolla $ign’s new EP ‘Girl Music Vol. 1’ starts where a good idea usually starts: at a dinner table. In New York City, Ty says the spark came from a DJ playing “all the right music,” which pushed the conversation toward what girls actually want to hear.
That organic energy now runs through the release as a six-song project, out now via Atlantic Records.. The lead single. “Miss U 2. ” features Leon Thomas. a triple Grammy Award-winning R&B sensation. and arrives with a tone that is built for the moments the project is meant to soundtrack—getting ready. going out to the club. or sitting at home thinking about someone.
“Produced by Keyz. ” “Miss U 2” is described as soulful and melodic. returning directly to the R&B roots associated with Ty’s early catalog.. Ty’s explanation for the project’s feel is bluntly personal: “The DJ at the restaurant was playing all the right music and it got us thinking about the music that girls really want to hear.. Everything about this project has been organic and natural.. This is really some of my favorite music I’ve made in a long time.. And this is only volume one.”
‘Girl Music Vol.. 1’ also follows Ty’s acclaimed 2025 album ‘Tycoon.’ That album included “Don’t Kill the Party” with Quavo and Juicy J. alongside appearances from A$AP Rocky. Travis Scott.
