Kevin Bacon Stung by Bees, Daughter Reenacts His Panic

Kevin Bacon shared on Instagram that he was attacked by a swarm of bees during a hike, and he later had his daughter Sosie reenact his stung reaction in a comedic video—complete with the “Perfect Day” song.

Kevin Bacon didn’t expect a routine hike to turn into a full-on bee attack—and he made sure his followers understood just how chaotic it was.

On May 9. Bacon posted to Instagram to say he was “attacked by a swarm of bees” during the outing with his daughter. Sosie Bacon. and her boyfriend. Scoot McNairy.. In the video, he told the story as if the insect swarm had picked him out personally.. “So these bees. they must not have liked my work or something. ’cause they left the [Sosie and Scoot] alone and they went full-on after me.. ‘Let’s attack KB.’ Bees stinging me everywhere, including underneath my shirt,” Bacon recalled.

Rather than filming his reaction in real time. Bacon said he was actually glad the moment wasn’t captured on camera.. Still, he wanted to recreate it for the audience by leaning on his family.. “Now. it was very nice of my daughter to not take out her phone and start videoing this epic bee-sting dance that I was doing. but I asked her if there was any way that she could recreate it from memory. ” he explained. before sharing a clip of Sosie reenacting his “dance” paired with the song “Perfect Day.”

In Sosie’s reenactment, she jokes that there are “bees in there,” seemingly mimicking Scoot, before shifting into an impression of Bacon stumbling into an imaginary beehive. The bit turns frantic as she waves her arm around, throws her baseball cap aside, and then tries to take her sweatshirt off.

“Sosie said in the clip, seemingly mimicking Scoot, before transitioning into an impression of Kevin stumbling into an imaginary beehive. She then erupted into frantically waving her limb and threw her baseball cap aside as she tried to take her sweatshirt off.”

“It was nothing more nothing less than that very dance,” Sosie wrote in the comments. Her mother, actress Kyra Sedgwick, responded with “Soooooo gooood!!”

What makes the whole episode feel especially on-brand for the Bacon household is how close the family continues to appear—something that shows up not just in posts like this. but in their bigger entertainment collaborations.. As reflected across their social media accounts. Sosie and her brother Travis Bacon are part of a tight group that often posts videos of themselves singing and dancing together.. The four recently reunited for the big screen alongside Scoot.

That project is Family Movie, a comedy horror co-directed by Kevin and Kyra.. In March. Sosie and Travis discussed what it was like to star alongside their parents in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.. Sosie admitted she came into it with skepticism, saying, “I had reservations for sure.. I think we all were concerned that. you know. things would come up. we would get into arguments… little tensions and stuff would arise in the situation because we’re on set.”

But her takeaway wasn’t conflict—it was closeness.. “Thankfully. however. the project apparently brought the four closer together.” Sosie said. “It was the most pleasant and exciting and kind of connected experience that we could have had.” Travis added. stating. “It felt extremely collaborative and felt like everybody’s voices were heard.”

The shared thread is that the Bacon family’s on-screen and behind-the-scenes chemistry shows up in both places: Sosie’s bee-sting reenactment on Instagram leans on the same kind of playful performance. while their experience on Family Movie—where both Sosie and Travis described collaboration and fewer fears than they expected—suggests the family dynamic that powers these moments is real.
