LeAnn Rimes’ anniversary tears deepen amid family rehab shock

LeAnn Rimes opened up about a “tense, heart wrenching” period at home during her 15th anniversary with Eddie Cibrian, later revealing that a parent is in rehab after a stroke. She also detailed a string of concert postponements tied to her own health setbacks,

LeAnn Rimes didn’t just mark 15 years with Eddie Cibrian—she admitted the celebration came wrapped in worry.

In an April 23 Instagram post celebrating their anniversary. the singer wrote that she and Cibrian “got to step away for 3 days amidst work and some very tense. heart wrenching things happening at home with family.” She later added. “It’s been a different anniversary. one filled with tears and worry. but in between. there were moments of laughter and deep gratitude for this love of ours. ” sharing photos and videos from their Cabo trip.

A few weeks later, Rimes went further, describing what she had been referring to.. In a May 12 Substack post. she wrote. “We have a parent in rehab after going through a stroke a few weeks ago. so the heaviness in our hearts around that has been hard.” She also noted that because she and Cibrian are both only children. “which means a lot has fallen onto my sweet husband’s shoulders.”

Rimes later spoke about the strain of watching someone close to her struggle. writing that it’s “heartbreaking” to see her loved one dealing with so much while she feels she’s “barely able to carry” herself.. “Honestly. I think that’s been one of the hardest parts of all of this… not even the physical pain. but the helplessness. the vulnerability. the uncertainty. ” she explained.

With that family crisis unfolding, Rimes says her own health battles have been piling on too.. On April 29. she postponed two concerts then-upcoming. telling fans through Instagram Stories. “Due to severe illness. I am unable to travel & perform this week.. I’m sorry to share that the upcoming shows in Spokane and Seattle will be rescheduled” (as cited in coverage published by Us Weekly).

She followed up shortly after with another update: Rimes announced the rescheduling of two more shows in Waukegan. Illinois. and Wilmington. Ohio.. “After a diagnosis of covid leading to severe laryngitis. I’m so sorry to have to reschedule next week’s shows.. A visit to my doctor for a scope of my vocal cords has confirmed the news,” she wrote.

By May 12, she said the need for recovery hadn’t eased.. Still dealing with her health issues. she was forced to postpone two additional concerts in Washington. D.C.. and Wilmington. Delaware.. Again using Instagram Stories. Rimes said. “[My doctor] has strongly advised me to take an additional week of vocal rest… This sadly means I can no longer perform this weekend” (per Us Weekly).

The story she’s laid out connects the dots between timing and strain: on April 23 she described a “tense. heart wrenching” situation at home. and by May 12 she identified it as a parent in rehab after a stroke; in the same broader stretch. she also tied each wave of concert postponements to her own illness and vocal recovery. moving from “severe illness” to COVID-related laryngitis to a doctor’s order for another week of vocal rest.

For now, Rimes’ updates leave fans holding two simultaneous realities—one at home, one on stage—with both paths, as she described them, marked by uncertainty, worry, and the kind of patience you can’t rush.
