Tucker Carlson says he’ll abandon both parties

Longtime conservative commentator Tucker Carlson says he won’t support the Republican Party ahead of the November midterm elections and also dismissed any move toward the Democratic Party, citing frustration with Trump-era decisions including the February deci

Tucker Carlson didn’t leave much room for compromise when he talked politics late last week on the show “Can’t Be Censored.”

He said there’s “no chance I would support the Republican Party” ahead of the November midterm elections. Then he added, “Not gonna support the Democratic Party,” before admitting, “I don’t know what I’m going to do.”

The comments land after Carlson built his political identity by defending Republicans for years—even after he was fired from Fox News in 2023. Since then, he has expanded a large audience through his own podcast, but in recent months he has drifted further from party lines.

Carlson tied part of that break to President Donald Trump’s decision in February to go to war with Iran. In the aftermath. Carlson said he supported Trump in 2024 and later apologized for backing the then-presidential candidate. saying he had been misleading people. He insisted it wasn’t intentional.

His criticism hasn’t stopped at the decision itself. Carlson has repeatedly attacked the war, saying it was driven by Israel while Americans paid the cost. He also accused the party of failing to represent its own voters, citizens, and nation.

“They are making decisions on the basis of other criteria, what’s best for this company, what’s best for Israel, what’s best for our donors,” Carlson said. “That’s not just, like, they are off in the wrong direction, like, that is unacceptable, that’s treasonous, it’s immoral, it can’t continue.”

He framed his latest statement as the end of a long loyalty. “I’ve been a consistent defender for 35 years of the Republican Party, I mean very consistent defender, but there’s no defending this,” he said. “So no, I’m out. And if I’m out, then I think a lot of other people are out.”

The shift is striking not because Carlson is simply criticizing a specific policy. It’s because he is now declaring he will not support the party he spent decades championing—while also signaling he has no intention of stepping into the Democratic camp before the November midterms.

  1. So he’s just gonna abandon everyone? Politicians love saying stuff then changing their minds next week.

  2. I don’t even get it, he’s mad at Republicans for “Israel” or whatever but isn’t he the one who backed Trump? Sounds like he’s chasing attention more than politics.

  3. Wait, didn’t Trump already say we weren’t going to war with Iran? And now Tucker’s blaming Israel?? Like I’m confused, maybe I missed a part. Also “abandon both parties” sounds like he wants to be the only party, idk.

  4. “No chance I would support the Republican Party” but he’s still out here talking on a podcast like that doesn’t help them anyway. And then he says he won’t support Democrats either like that magically fixes the war with Iran situation. Half this sounds like him auditioning for something, then acting shocked it got messy. Also he got fired from Fox so now he’s doing the whole “loyalty ending” speech, sure.
