Tucker Carlson Leaves GOP Over Iran War Dispute

Tucker Carlson said he won’t support either the Trump-led Republican Party or Democrats, calling the Trump administration “treasonous” and “immoral” while explaining his break with the GOP on the Iran war.
Tucker Carlson didn’t wait for the midterms to decide where he stood. On his “Can’t Be Censored” podcast, the longtime conservative commentator described his exit from the Republican party led by President Donald Trump, after he said he disapproved of the administration’s position on the Iran war.
Carlson, who spent nearly 15 years at Fox News, made his break sound final and personal as he addressed the political climate heading into the midterm elections. When asked about whether he would be backing Republicans under Trump, he didn’t hedge.
“Well, the poll numbers now are, you know, tell a pretty clear story about it,” he said. “I would not support the Republican party. There’s no chance I would support the Republican party.”
He then clarified he wasn’t preparing to pivot to the Democratic side either. “I don’t know what I’m going to do. But at this point. you know. how could I or any American voter support a political party that’s not loyal to the United States that puts the interest of a foreign country above those of its own citizens?”.
Carlson framed the decision as a loyalty test, pointing to his own long record as a defender of the GOP. “It’s not possible to vote for people like that,” he continued. “And I’m not going to. I’ve voted Republican my entire life. I worked at Fox News, CNN, MSNBC [and] I’ve been a consistent defender for 35 years of the Republican party. I mean, very consistent defender. But there’s no defending this because it’s immoral.”.

For Carlson, the issue wasn’t just disagreement—it was what he believes the party has become. He said the Republican party today. under Trump’s leadership. is doing “exactly the opposite” of what the GOP claims to stand for. insisting it’s “representing its own voters. its own citizens. its own nation.”.
“And they’re not doing that. So, no, I’m out,” Carlson added. “And if I’m out, then I think a lot of other people are out.”
His remarks also reached back to one of Trump’s best-known slogans. with Carlson saying he “never understood” “Make America Great Again.” Still. he said he believes there was a genuine desire behind it. “I think there was a strong latent desire in the hearts of a lot of Americans to improve the country. make America great again. ” he said. “So, on a literal level, you know, people wanted that. They still want it. I still want it. But it was imprecise by design.”.
Carlson argued that the earlier “America First” slogan was more “precise. ” saying leaders should “just put your own country first as you make decisions as a leader of your country.” He described the standard in blunt. personal terms: “And that’s very obvious like. it’s hard to imagine that any leader would use any other standard to make decisions. Of course, just like a father makes decisions what’s best for my family. You know, a leader has to make decisions on the same basis.”.
He claimed “America First” has effectively been retired by current leadership, adding that Trump and his administration—he alleges—are making decisions using different criteria. “What’s best for this company? What’s best for Israel? What’s best for our donors?” he said.
Carlson’s conclusion landed on the stakes of that shift, calling it both immoral and treasonous. “I just want to say again that’s unacceptable. That’s not just like they’re off in the wrong direction. Like that is unacceptable. That’s treasonous. It’s immoral. It can’t continue. You can’t have a government that calls itself a Democratic Republic. in our case. that is representing interests outside the country.”.
He invited viewers to watch the video commentary embedded above as he laid out the reasoning behind what he called a clear break—one that, he said, he believes could spread beyond him.
Tucker Carlson GOP Trump administration Iran war midterm elections Can’t Be Censored Fox News America First Make America Great Again
So he just hates Trump now? Lol.
I can’t even keep up. He says Iran war, treasonous, immoral… but isn’t he the one who made half the stuff up for ratings? Like where was this loyalty stuff back then?
Wait he left the GOP because of the Iran war, but then he says he won’t support Democrats either. So what, he’s just doing his own thing? Sounds like he’s still trying to sell the same audience on a new brand. Also “foreign country above citizens” is rich coming from all the crazy rhetoric.
This headline makes it sound like Tucker is suddenly a patriot, but it just feels like another political pivot. Like he’s mad about how they’re handling Iran, but I swear he was saying stuff similar before. The poll numbers?? I mean polls flip every day. I don’t even know what he expects regular people to do, vote for nobody? Also he worked at Fox forever then mentions CNN and MSNBC like that automatically means he’s credible or something.
