Trump’s latest stab at Tucker Carlson, Marjorie Taylor Greene and Thomas Massie
A group of anti-MAGA Republicans want to form a new coalition in the party, and the president took to Truth Social to call them “irrelevant,” “neurotic” and “failed.”
Tucker Carlson distances himself from Republican Party
Longtime conservative commentator Tucker Carlson publicly disavowed the Republican Party, stating he will not support them in the midterm elections.
“Totally irrelevant.”
“Low I.Q. individual.”
“Should be required to take a cognitive test.”
Those are some of the recent insults that President Donald Trump is throwing at conservative commentator Tucker Carlson, a former Fox News host and foe of Trump who has pivoted to oppose the president and hosts his own weekly podcast.
“Tucker Carlson just met with Lightweight “Former” Congressman, Thomas Massie, and Marjorie “Traitor” Greene, LOSERS ALL! Tucker’s “Views” have fallen through the floor, and will only get worse,” Trump said in a Truth Social post on the late evening of Aug. 21.
Carlson said in July that he was making a third party after his break with the president, according to an interview with the Columbia Journalism Review.
In early August, former Republican U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene – who resigned from office in November 2025 after a public feud with the president and now is a fierce critic of him – posted a photo on X of a group of leading MAGA rebels in the Republican Party convened, saying their “movement has begun.”
Prominent leaders in the photo besides Greene were Carlson, Republican Rep. Thomas Massie – who lost his reelection primary this year after public feuds with Trump – and Joe Kent, former Director of the United States National Counterterrorism Center, who resigned from his position in March over opposing military action in Iran.
“We said no more foreign wars and we meant it and supported Donald Trump because he made that promise. But he’s betrayed us all,” Greene said in her Aug. 1 post. “Our commitment is America First for all Americans, right, left, and center.”
Kent told USA TODAY in an exclusive interview published on Aug. 19 that an anti-war political coalition could be a force in future elections and offered different scenarios for the shape it might take. The former intelligence expert noted the coalition is still in the early stages and that they “still just have to flesh out what this coalition is all about.” It is unclear if the meeting that Trump refers to in his new post refers to the meeting in photo that Greene posted earlier this month.
Trump called Greene a “highly neurotic young woman,” who “went from Ultra Conservative to a Liberal “Fool” in the post. He also purposefully misstated her last name as Brown, explaining that “Green turns to Brown under stress!” Turning to Massie, Trump called the lawmaker a “failed politician, and a real JERK.”
“What a team this would be, THREE LOSERS, and a pocketful of change! The only chance they have is to join the Radical Left Dumocrats, and try breaking into the Primary System,” Trump said.
Carlson said in the July Columbia Journalism Review interview that he does not want to be a candidate, but Trump told Truth Social users the opposite, alleging “Tucker wants to run for political office, but he should be required to take a cognitive test.” The president continued, “He’s got no chance, but could probably take a couple of points away from whatever the Republican ticket happens to be!”
