Trump’s Iran warning collides with regional drone flare-ups

Trump warns – President Donald Trump warned that time is running short for a deal with Iran as drone attacks raised new security concerns across the Gulf. The United Arab Emirates reported a fire at its only nuclear power plant after drone attacks, while Saudi air defenses

President Donald Trump ratcheted up pressure on Iran again. telling the world the “clock is ticking” as a fragile ceasefire remains in place.. In a Truth Social post. Trump wrote that “time is of the essence” and suggested there may be “nothing left” if a deal isn’t reached. even as fresh drone attacks fueled wider alarm across the region.

The United Arab Emirates said its only nuclear power plant caught fire Sunday after what officials called an “unprovoked terrorist attack.” The UAE foreign ministry said no group claimed responsibility. but it described the strike as coming from the Western border direction.. Saudi Arabia. which sits to the UAE’s west. said its air defenses intercepted three drones it believes entered from Iraqi airspace. calling the incident a “dangerous escalation” and a direct threat to the country’s security.

Markets reacted to Trump’s warning as energy prices moved higher early Monday. Brent crude climbed above $110 a barrel, and U.S. benchmark crude pushed past $100, while stocks fell in the early trading hours.

Ebola cases continued to climb in parts of Africa. and the World Health Organization declared the outbreak in Congo and Uganda a global health emergency after cases spread across borders.. WHO said the outbreak has been driven by the Bundibugyo strain of Ebola. a version of the virus with no approved vaccine or treatment.. Congo reported 246 suspected cases and at least 80 suspected deaths, while Uganda confirmed cases including one death in Kampala.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention assessed reports that at least six Americans in Congo may have been exposed. including cases described as involving high-risk exposure. though officials have not confirmed infections.. The CDC said the risk to the U.S.. public remains low.. WHO said the outbreak does not meet the threshold for a pandemic emergency. but warned it may be larger than current numbers show.

Public health attention also turned to a different virus after a cruise ship tied to a hantavirus outbreak arrived in Rotterdam. Netherlands. Monday morning.. The MV Hondius spent the past six days traveling from the Spanish Canary Islands. where health officials escorted remaining passengers off the ship and sent them back to their home countries for quarantine.. Officials said the crew members and medical staff still on board will leave in stages before the Hondius undergoes a thorough cleaning and disinfection process.

“Currently. all the crew members aboard. there are still 25 people aboard. and this nurse and a doctor. and they all are free of any symptoms.. They have taken blood samples. and as soon as the vessel arrives in the Rotterdam port. these test materials will go to the lab for testing.. But this afternoon. we will immediately take another sample of blood to be tested in the laboratory. and the results will be there the next day.” Yvonnes Van Duijnhove. Director of Health at GGD Rotterdam-Rijnmond

Canadian health officials said a passenger who was on board the ship tested positive for hantavirus and remained hospitalized in isolation. Officials added that the passenger’s travel companion reported mild symptoms but tested negative.

The stakes of risk close to home were stark in another developing investigation: the U.S. Navy launched a probe into the cause of two Navy jets colliding midair during an air show in Idaho. All four crew members survived.

Investigators said both aircraft — EA-18-G Growlers — were flying in an aerial demonstration Sunday just after noon near Mountain Home Air Force Base.. Video from the scene showed the jets colliding and then falling together before erupting into a fireball on impact.. Officials said four parachutes opened above the crash site, and all four aviators are in stable condition.. They also said the crash did not injure any spectators.

Military officials locked down the base after the collision, leaving thousands of attendees in place for several hours so emergency crews could reach the scene.

Two political fights were already drawing attention as the calendar turned to Tuesday’s primaries.. In Kentucky, a Republican primary became a direct clash between President Donald Trump and Rep.. Thomas Massie ahead of the contest.. Massie said outside money from billionaires is trying to push him out of office. while Trump told Kentucky voters to do it themselves.. On Truth Social Sunday. Trump wrote: “Tom Massie of Kentucky. the worst and most unreliable Republican congressman in the history of our country.”

The Kentucky 4th district race has become the most expensive House primary in U.S. history, with more than $25 million spent on television, digital and radio ads. Massie faces former Navy SEAL Ed Gallrein, who earned Trump’s endorsement before formally entering the race.

Massie has repeatedly broken with Trump on key issues, including the big beautiful bill and the release of the Epstein files. He said the race has become bigger than a primary fight.

“How did this race become the most expensive race in the history of Congress for a primary? It’s because three billionaires from outside of Kentucky have funneled millions of dollars in here. They’re trying to buy a seat,” Massie said.

“You can tell that I’m ahead in the polls, and they’re desperate. That’s why they’re sending the secretary of war to my district tomorrow. That’s why the president is losing sleep and tweeting about this,” Massie said.

Massie wasn’t the only Republican lawmaker in Trump’s crosshairs. Sen. Bill Cassidy lost his primary fight in Louisiana on Saturday. Cassidy was one of just seven Republican senators who voted to convict Trump during his impeachment trial in 2021.

Voters head to the polls in five other states Tuesday: Georgia, Alabama, Idaho, Oregon and Pennsylvania.

The people. places. and institutions facing danger on Monday span multiple continents and missions. but the timing reads like a chain of high-stakes escalations.. Trump’s “time is of the essence” warning to Iran lands as the UAE reported fire damage at a nuclear plant and Saudi officials said three drones entered from Iraqi airspace.. At the same time. WHO’s global health emergency for Ebola follows the spread of cases across borders. while in Idaho the Navy investigation begins only hours after a midair collision. leaving only the crews in immediate harm and spectators uninured.

Elsewhere. researchers announced a major dinosaur discovery in Thailand after four decades of work. identifying Nagatitan chaiyaphumensis. a plant-eating sauropod dated roughly 100 to 120 million years ago.. Scientists said it may be the longest-necked creature ever found in Southeast Asia and called it the “last titan” of Thailand.

The discovery followed fossils embedded in rock formations. with researchers excavating ten bones. including a front leg bone estimated at about six feet long.. The team estimated the dinosaur weighed around 27 tons, roughly twice the size of today’s largest elephants.. The article also noted that Thailand has become something of a dinosaur hotspot. producing some of the most unusual prehistoric discoveries over the years.

A separate story tracked the human side of rising costs, with a Texas bar describing a “steak wake” after beef prices forced it to call it quits. One customer said when news of the Sarah McLachlan song spread, “We have to go,” adding, “We have to throw it down for one more steak night.”

  1. If the UAE nuclear plant is on fire because of “drones” then why does nobody have a fix for drones yet? Seems like we’re just watching stuff happen. Also the “deal with Iran” stuff feels like it’s always running out of time.

  2. Wait I thought they already had some kind of ceasefire? And now it’s drones from Iraq and the Western border direction?? That’s like… every direction. Makes me feel like nobody actually knows what’s going on, just saying ‘terrorist attack’ and calling it escalation.

  3. Truth Social really is where the news goes to be cryptic. “Nothing left” if no deal? Like are we supposed to panic? I saw “intercepted three drones” and immediately thought okay so it wasn’t that bad but then it’s a nuclear power plant fire so yeah idk. Seems convenient timing with all the drone flare-ups to pressure Iran.
