Trump Snaps Back at ‘Canadian Trade Scam’ With $50 Billion Threat: ‘NO RECIPROCITY – NO ACCESS!’

President Donald Trump ramped up the trade war with Canada by directing the U.S. government to reject Canadian products unless it immediately “restores full and fair reciprocity” to America’s “Great Dairy Farmers” and companies, which he said have been unfairly blocked from Canadian markets.

The president said the U.S. has been the victim of the “Canadian Trade Scam” for far too long in a Tuesday afternoon post on Truth Social. He ripped Canada just hours after the USA’s Northern neighbor slapped $20 billion worth of tariffs on American goods.

“NO RECIPROCITY — NO ACCESS!” Trump vented.

Trump said he directed the General Services Administration and the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative to “take all necessary steps to REMOVE Canadian-origin products from GSA’s Multiple Award Schedules” unless Canadian federal and provincial governments open up their markets to American companies. He said his decision will hit Canada hard — to the tune of about $50 billion per year.

Everyone knows that Canada doesn’t let our Great Dairy Farmers sell into the Canadian Market, and that the only reason Canada makes Autos is because of previous disastrous Trade Agreements while other Presidents were in Office. Canada has been ripping us off for years, but what many do not realize is that the Canadian Government, including Canadian Provinces, have banned American Small Businesses and Companies from selling into their Government Procurement Markets.

This is the case even though Canada gets broad access into the massive American Government Procurement Market, including those of our States. That is not reciprocity, it is a Canadian Trade Scam. From now on, NO RECIPROCITY – NO ACCESS! I am hereby directing the GSA, working with the USTR, to take all necessary steps to REMOVE Canadian-origin products from GSA’s Multiple Award Schedules unless Canada restores full and fair reciprocity for American Farmers and Companies.

Those schedules account for more than 50 BILLION DOLLARS a year. This should have been cut off years ago, by other Administrations, like it was by mine, only to reinstituted by Sleepy Joe Biden. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP

The back-and-forth trade war with Canada started last month, after a deal between the two nations collapsed at the last minute. Soon after, Trump’s 50% tariff on Canada went into effect, and the president changed the name of Lake Ontario to Lake America.

Trump’s name swap was celebrated by many MAGA fans, and both Apple and Google updated their maps apps to reflect the change, but a Reuters/Ipsos poll last week showed it was not very popular with most Americans.

Heading into Tuesday, Trump kept the feud going by posting an AI picture of himself in a USA hockey jersey, looming over a cowering Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney. “Get up, Governor,” Trump taunted in the picture.
