Trump Mobile probes exposure after T1 preorder data online

A gold-colored smartphone preorder was supposed to be the quiet start of a new brand. Instead, it appears to have opened a door to the open internet.
Trump Mobile is investigating a potential data exposure that may have leaked personal information belonging to thousands of would-be customers who preordered its gold-colored T1 smartphone. The company says preorder users’ names, addresses, and phone numbers were reportedly left accessible online.
Trump Mobile says the issue may have come from a vulnerability linked to a third-party platform provider. To look into it, the company is working with independent cybersecurity experts.
In its statement, Trump Mobile says it has found no evidence that financial data, Social Security numbers, passwords, or communication records were compromised.
The potential exposure didn’t surface in a vacuum. Independent researchers first flagged the vulnerability, and then it was amplified online by YouTubers including Coffeezilla and penguinz0. Those creators said they were able to verify their own leaked information after being contacted by a source with database access.
For Trump Mobile, the timing couldn’t be harder. The T1 phone has already faced delays. It has also drawn criticism over shifting “Made in America” claims, along with skepticism around preorder numbers.
But the leak is only one more pressure point in a story that keeps accumulating awkward questions. Some people have criticized the phone’s design for replacing two of the American flag’s 13 stripes with the company’s branding. NBC News’ Brian Cheung also suggested the device may be a repackaged version of another existing smartphone. and one expert reportedly suggested it is likely to be the HTC U24 Pro.
MISRYOUM reached out to the Trump Organization for a statement about the alleged customer data leak. The newsroom had not received a response at the time this story was written, and it said it would update once one arrives.
The sequence of events leaves one basic question hanging: even if no passwords or Social Security numbers were taken, what was exposed, who accessed it, and whether the gap that left names, addresses, and phone numbers online has been fully closed for everyone who preordered.
