After signing an executive order to officially rename Lake Ontario “Lake America,” President Donald Trump wasted little time turning the new moniker into merchandise, with the Trump Store hawking $55 hats.
The name change came amid an escalating feud between Trump and Canada after trade talks collapsed and the U.S. moved forward with 50% tariffs, which Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney vowed to match “dollar-for-dollar.” Trump signed an executive order making the Lake America name official on government systems on Thursday, arguing Canada had been “ripping us off for a long time on trade.” He has since leaned into the rebranding, posting AI-generated videos mocking Canada and, on Wednesday, floating another geographic name change: rechristening the Strait of Hormuz the “TRUMP STRAIT.”
On the president’s website, hats reading “LAKE AMERICA” are now sold for $55 in both red and blue.

The description of the product referenced the president’s executive order, reading, “All it takes is a good pen to make the Great Lakes greater. This classic high-crown hat remains a presidential favorite, and this time, Lake America shares a vision for the unlimited potential of what is on the horizon.”
Trump’s son, Eric Trump, was already sporting one on Thursday, posting a selfie on X.
And just this morning, the feud showed no signs of slowing, with the president firing off an angry Truth Social post directed at Carney.
He wrote, “It is very good for Canadian Politicians like Prime Minister Carney to make President Donald J. Trump ‘the enemy,’ until their Economy collapses, then it will prove to be very bad for Politics — Worse than anything that has ever happened to a Canadian Politician. Just watch!”
The Trump merchandise store is no stranger to cashing in on the president’s geographic rebrandings. After Trump renamed the Gulf of Mexico the “Gulf of America” in 2025, the store rolled out merchandise celebrating the change.
Those hats initially sold for $50, yet they are currently on sale for $37.50.
