The president did not hold back as he described the condition of the landmark as shocking after his visit. The tone matched his long-running habit of speaking bluntly about grievances—especially when he believes restoration should happen fast.

There’s another thread now attached to the Reflecting Pool story: former Olympic canoeist David Hearn is reportedly in legal trouble after an arrest tied to alleged vandalism of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool. The Washington Post reported that Hearn—described as a three-time U.S. Olympian who competed in canoe slalom—said he stopped to look at the Reflecting Pool during a 52-mile bike ride. He pointed to the pool’s recent $14 Million renovation, which was championed by Trump.

Hearn told the outlet he was met by U.S. Park Police, who arrested him for misdemeanor destruction of government property.

MISRYOUM reached out to Hearn for comment, and so far there has been no word back.

Back in the White House spotlight, Trump’s message leaves little doubt about how he plans to frame the moment—quick repair, no patience for wrongdoing, and a strong belief that the act was more than accident.

  1. He’s calling it deranged which is wild but I guess it is. Also I saw somewhere it was during a bike ride?? like why would someone stop and vandalize then just… say sorry.

  2. I don’t get it, if it was vandalism then how do they know it wasn’t just poor maintenance from that $14 million renovation Trump bragged about. Like maybe it broke and everyone’s blaming some dude with a bike.

  3. Trump inspecting it personally??? That’s gonna be his new thing I guess. Meanwhile the article says a former Olympian got arrested for it, but nobody’s saying what he actually did besides “destruction,” so I’m like… was it even that bad or just dumb? Also “work begins immediately” doesn’t mean anything if they never show receipts.
