Trump approval among nonvoters collapses, Enten stunned

Trump loses – On CNN News Central, data analyst Harry Enten broke down a new poll showing President Donald Trump’s approval among Americans who didn’t vote in 2024 has fallen by 54 points, dropping from plus four to negative 50 within less than two years—an apparent shift d

On May 21, Harry Enten looked at the numbers like he couldn’t quite believe what he was seeing.

In an interview with CNN News Central anchor Sara Sidner. Enten walked through a new poll and delivered the kind of change that makes even seasoned analysts pause. President Donald Trump has lost 54 points of approval among Americans who didn’t vote in 2024. Enten described the decline as so swift it was “falling through the basement.”.

The graph he pulled up showed where the shift began: Trump’s net approval rating among non-voters was plus four points right after the 2024 election. Less than two years later, that figure is negative 50 points.

Enten framed the consequence in plain terms. Even Americans who sat out the 2024 election are now so frustrated with Trump that they may be driven to vote against his party in the midterms.

Sidner reacted with an audible “wow” as she tried to translate what the numbers could mean for the next contest. “The turnout can have a huge impact on who wins a race,” she said, pressing Enten for the “why” behind the swing.

Enten didn’t hedge. He said Americans are “pissed” at Donald Trump. He pointed to how big the movement is—especially among a group that previously sat more on the fence. “An over 50 point move against the president of the United States among those who are kinda like. ‘Meh. ’ you know. in terms of voting in 2024. but now they are pissed off. ” he said.

For Enten, the economy is the driver of that anger. He said non-voters’ confidence in Trump to handle it has dropped so quickly that comparing it to recent levels is difficult. In November of 2024, 60% of non-voters were confident in Trump’s ability to make good decisions on the economy. “This number just absolutely plummeted,” Enten said.

He then focused on where non-voters stand now: Trump’s approval rating on the economy among those who didn’t cast a ballot in 2024 is 19%, “It’s only a third! A third of those who were confident back in November of 2024.”

Enten added a pointed line to underline the speed of the change, joking, “Again, we’re just talking about numbers that are falling through the basement. If you hire the carpenters who built Donald Trump’s floor on this, you shouldn’t have.”
