Travis Barker reportedly took 30 pills daily

Shanna Moakler says Travis Barker told her he was taking between 20 and 30 painkillers a day at the height of his addiction, a moment echoed in his new Hulu and Disney+ documentary premiering at Tribeca on June 13.

Travis Barker’s past addiction comes into sharp focus in his new documentary. and in the process. Shanna Moakler says she heard a number that still lands like a warning sign. In the film. Moakler recalls Barker confiding in her that. at the worst of it. he was taking between 20 and 30 painkillers daily.

Moakler—who appeared in the documentary Travis Barker: Love Is Louder Than Fear. which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival on June 13—also describes how Barker worried about the consequences of his own reliance on pills. The musician tells viewers in the documentary that he had a security guard on hand at the time to make sure he didn’t “die in his sleep.”.

It’s not just the confession that hits. The documentary also gives a front-row seat to the people closest to him, including his children. Travis Barker’s children, including step-daughter Atiana de la Hoya, appear in his new documentary. Landon Barker. 22. and Alabama Barker. 20. share the screen alongside Atiana de la Hoya. 27. as Barker and Moakler—married between 2004 and 2008—look back through the lens of what their family endured.

Barker’s story. though. can’t be separated from the aftermath of a 2008 plane crash. which he survived and which killed four of six passengers onboard. Long before this documentary. he’s connected his own health struggles to that trauma—explaining that fear of flying became so debilitating that. to continue touring. he turned to painkillers.

His addiction, he says, grew into something that severely damaged his health. Eventually, he developed osteoporosis and required hospitalization. He has remained sober since his release from the hospital.

Speaking earlier to Men’s Health in 2025. he said. “People are always like. ‘Did you go to rehab?’” and added. “And I [say]. ‘No. I was in a plane crash.’ That was my rehab. Lose three of your friends and almost die?. That was my wake-up call. If I wasn’t in a crash, I would have probably never quit.”.

Those who appear in the documentary extend beyond Moakler’s side of his life. The rocker is also dad to son Rocky 13 Barker, 2, whom he shares with wife Kourtney Kardashian. He is stepdad to Scott Disick’s children, Mason Disick, 16, Penelope Disick, 13, and Reign Disick, 11.

Today, Barker says he leads an extra healthy lifestyle, including eating a vegan diet and practicing breathwork. He also created his vegan CBD brand Barker Wellness—something that parallels one of Kourtney Kardashian’s projects, her viral supplement line Lemme.

Travis Barker: Love Is Louder Than Fear will be released on August 13 on Hulu and Disney+.
