Tom Selleck readies History Channel crime series

After the end of Blue Bloods in 2024, Tom Selleck is set to host Crime and Justice with Tom Selleck on The History Channel, an upcoming true-crime series that will examine notable cases from across American history. The project is announced with a working titl
In 2024, the world said goodbye to Blue Bloods—and with it, Tom Selleck’s longtime run as patriarch Frank Reagan. The CBS spinoff Boston Blue kept the franchise moving, with Donnie Wahlberg starring as Danny Reagan. But for many fans, the missing piece has been obvious: Selleck himself.
Now, it looks like that hope is getting closer to an actual next chapter.
Earlier this year. it was announced that Tom Selleck would be making his way to The History Channel as the host of Crime and Justice with Tom Selleck (working title). The series is described as a true-crime project that will unpack notable crimes and investigations throughout history. along with the lawmen and women who pursue justice.
Selleck will narrate, host and executive produce the series. The promise, as he frames it, is about pressure, consequences, and the moment when everything hinges on a decision.
“Throughout my career, I’ve been drawn to stories about consequences and the pursuit of justice,” said Selleck. “This series looks at real cases from across American history and the people tasked with seeing them through—moments when the pressure was intense. the outcome uncertain. and the decisions carried lasting consequences.”.
The History Channel also tied the announcement to what it believes is Selleck’s fit for the format. Eli Lehrer. EVP and Head of Programming at The History Channel. said: “Tom has long brought credibility and insight to stories about law and justice. That background makes him a natural partner for this project. We’re pleased to be working with Tom on a series that looks at real crimes. real investigations. and the people responsible for upholding the law when the stakes were highest.”.
A premiere date is still not set. There hasn’t been a release date announced yet, so the only certainty right now is that fans will have to wait.
Since Blue Bloods ended, Selleck has kept a relatively low profile. The article notes that he hasn’t taken on any roles since the show concluded. But there are hints that a return could be coming.
In 2025, he signed with a new talent agency, UTA. And recently, he was seen at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books, where he talked about his memoir and his extensive career.
Blue Bloods may be over, but the story’s extension through Boston Blue has kept the Reagan name on screen. And while fans wait for Selleck’s next broadcast chapter to begin, his absence hasn’t meant a pause in attention—only a shift.
Whether it’s a Blue Bloods rewatch or revisiting older work like Three Men and a Baby (1987), the question for many viewers is the same: this time, will the new format feel like the next step—or the return they’ve been waiting for?
