Tom Holland finally answers Zendaya marriage rumors in Madrid

At the start of the Madrid press tour for “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” Tom Holland addressed long-running Zendaya marriage rumors sparked by celebrity stylist Law Roach—and said a pause was all that was needed to confirm the wedding happened with family presen
Tom Holland didn’t have to say much for fans to hear the answer.
On the first days of the “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” press tour in Madrid, the 30-year-old actor found himself pressed on the rumors that he and Zendaya had secretly gotten married—an online story that spread fast enough to reach even his grandmother.
In a June 16 profile with Esquire. Holland talked about AI-generated images circulating online this year that purported to show his and Zendaya’s wedding. He said his grandmother saw the pictures and reacted as if the ceremony were real—only to wonder why she hadn’t been invited. When Esquire asked the “Odyssey” actor whether he needed to message any other family members. Holland paused. then replied. “No. because they were all there.”.
When the journalist told him they hadn’t realized the wedding had already happened, Holland stopped short of giving further details, saying, “That’s all you’ll get on that.”
The response lands after months in which Holland and Zendaya kept their relationship famously private, even as the rumor cycle kept accelerating.
The engagement was confirmed in January 2025. but talk of a secret wedding grew louder starting in March. when celebrity stylist Law Roach told the story as if the moment had already passed. Speaking at the Actor Awards. Roach claimed “the wedding has already happened” and “you missed it. ” adding. when asked if it was true. “It’s very true.”.
After Roach’s comments, neither Holland nor Zendaya moved to directly confirm or deny whether they were married. Zendaya continued promoting “The Drama. ” a film centered on her character preparing for her wedding. while she also addressed the viral AI images that were fueling the latest wave of speculation.
During an appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” in March. Zendaya danced around the rumors. but she did make one point about the pictures. She said. “I was out and about in real life and people are like. ‘Oh my god. your wedding photos are really gorgeous.’ And I was like. ‘Babe they’re AI.’ They’re not real.”.
Holland and Zendaya have been working together on-screen since meeting on 2017’s “Spider-Man: Homecoming. ” where Zendaya was introduced as Peter Parker’s friend and eventual love interest. MJ. They continued playing romantic partners across the Marvel franchise and both return in July’s “Spider-Man: Brand New Day.” In that film. MJ no longer remembers who Peter is. Both actors also star in Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey,” set for release in July.
Their public answers have been rare. and Holland’s most detailed remarks about their relationship have often focused on what they offer each other off-camera. In the same Esquire profile, he discussed the way they support one another. “We can support each other in ways that only we can. because only we understand really what it’s like to live this life. and I think that is such a luxury. because I just don’t understand how I would be able to have anything like that with anyone else. ” he said. He added, “So, for me, I found my person. She’s my best friend. and I’m the happiest I ever have been when I’m with her. but I also have never felt so supported and safe. ever. Period.”.
USA Today reached out to representatives for Zendaya and Holland for comment.
The new remarks in Madrid close the gap between rumor and response. but they also underline how carefully the couple has handled the storyline. Even with the AI images. the stylized claims from Law Roach. and the months of speculation. Holland chose clarity over elaboration—enough to answer the central question. not enough to turn it into a full public retelling.
