Titans scout Blaise Taylor faces murder trial over pregnancy
Former Titans scout Blaise Taylor is on trial after prosecutors allege he killed his pregnant girlfriend, Jade Benning, by spiking pink lemonade with cocaine dissolved in alcohol. Prosecutors say Benning and her unborn daughter died in 2024.
By the time the first testimony began, Blaise Taylor had already gone from football worker to defendant in a case that prosecutors say ended a pregnancy in the most violent way.
Taylor, a former Titans scout, was arrested in March 2024 on suspicion of murdering his pregnant girlfriend. The trial began earlier this week in Nashville.
Prosecutors allege that the 30-year-old Taylor poisoned Jade Benning and her unborn daughter by spiking pink lemonade with cocaine dissolved in alcohol. Benning died on March 6, 2024, which prosecutors say was her 25th birthday. The baby died on February 27 of that year.
Friday’s evidence included testimony from a medical examiner who told the court that Benning had high levels of cocaine in her system and no history of cocaine use.
The case also turned toward what people around Benning noticed and remembered. On Thursday. a friend of Benning’s testified that Taylor made an alarming comment when they were talking about the preparation of the baby’s nursery. The friend said Taylor told her he was going to “paint a black hole. ” adding. “I’m going to call it midnight — the further you look. the deeper you go.”.
Taylor worked for the Titans from 2021 to 2023. Prosecutors are seeking a sentence of life imprisonment without parole.
